Your descriptions are also very nice: not too much so that your reader drowns in details, yet not withholding any details either. If I may add a little piece of critique, however: You write in a third-person perspective. Don't be afraid to show the characters' thoughts, the reasons behind their personal actions. Give them quirks, things that set them apart from the flock. Don't be afraid to give your readers a glimpse in the mind of your main character and her allies. Maybe even her enemies. However, all in all, a very good first book! Keep up the good work!"
