Chapter 1 the beginning
Cassie smiled as she rushed out to the dock. She could hear the orcas breathing as they swam by. She loved seeing the orcas up so close. Then she saw her favorite orca J-22 also known as Oreo. She was from the J-pod of southern resident Killer whales that lived in the Salish Sea. Where Cassie and her family lived. Oreo must have spotted her because she broke off from her group and swam up to the dock where Cassie was standing. “Hey, How’s my girl?” Cassie asked the whale as she sat down on the dock. Oreo spy hopped out of the water and Cassie reached out to pet her.
The whale held still as Cassie pet her. Then she went back under the water for a second before coming up again looking Cassie right in the eyes. Then dropped back into the water again. Cassie smile grew even wider. She stood up and glanced at the sun which was setting over the water. It looked beautiful. She knew that she should probably go inside to get ready for dinner but she wasn’t ready. Instead, she took a deep breath and dove off the dock into the water. Oreo squeaked with happiness. Oreo moved quickly towards where her group was waiting for her. Cassie followed her.
She swam with the group for a few minutes sticking close to Oreo. Once she was ready to go back to the dock she had Oreo peck push her.
