Lennox
I walk into the classroom and all eyes turn to me, every conversation stopping, and curious looks spreading. I roll my eyes from under my hood, knowing that they couldn’t see what I looked like. Just like it was supposed to be. The teacher turns her gaze to me once she heard the door close.
“Oh dear, you must be the new student, Lennox Parker?” She asks in her sweet tone and I nod my head.
“Call me Len.” I say quickly, as I scowl at my name. Lennox Parker, I sounded like a boy.
“Alright then, Len, this is quite surprising, usually we don’t let people into A.P classes in the middle of semesters, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you manage to get in?” She asks kindly as the people in the class continued to stare. I look to her as if the answer was so obvious.
“I took a test.” Is all I say and she smiles.
“Yes, everyone has to take a test to get into this class, what did you score? The highest scored was an 80.5, and that’s Jessi over here. People usually don’t get in unless they score a 60.5 or higher, so what was yours?” She asks as she goes to get her binder, where I’m guessing she’s going to keep this jotted down. I look to the person who she was talking about, this Jessi. I took one look at her and rolled my eyes. Daddy’s money for sure got her that score, and Jessi even had the guts to smirk at her, telling her that her assumption was true. I sigh as I take the binder out of the teacher’s hands, and write my score down right beside my name, not wanting to start anything on my first day. I handed the book back to the teacher and she looked to see what I had put, and her eyes widened. She looked to me shocked and to the rest of the class and then back to the book.
“Are you sure this is the right score? Did you check in with Mr. Davidson?” She asks as she looks to me with a look that said she didn’t believe me. I nod and shrug my shoulders like it wasn’t a big deal. If they thought that test was hard they had another thing coming.
“Well this is surprising, we’ve never had anyone get a perfect score, congratulations Len, and welcome to the class.” She says and this immediately makes Jessi glare at me and everyone else give me a shocked look. The teacher points to a empty chair in the back beside a group of boys.
“You can sit over there dear.” She says as she turns back to the board and continues her lesson. I roll my eyes as I start to walk to the back of the room, overstepping Jessi’s outstretched foot with a chuckle.
“Gonna have to try a little harder than that Sissi.” I say with a smirk as I sit down, Jessi turning to me with blazing eyes.
“It’s Jessi.” She hisses out and I shrug.
“Whatever you say Nessi.” I reply and she growls as she turns back around. I hear a few chuckles and turn my gaze to the group of boys I got seated by. There was three, and only two were laughing.
“Man, I’ve never seen Jessi so irritated in my life. I’m Luke, nice to meet you Len.” He says as he holds out his hand to greet me. I shake my head by comply, shaking his hand and waiting for the others to introduce themselves. The guy next to Luke reaches his hand out too, while the other hand pushes his brown hair out of his face.
“Pleasure to meet you Len, my name is Luca.” He says as he shakes my hand. I turn to the last guy, who rolls his eyes and shakes my hand.
“Livius King.” Is all he says and for the first time today I actually smile.
“Lennox Parker.” Is all I say in return and I see a hint of a smile start to appear but it immediately disappears when the other guys start to speak.
“So where did you come from Len?” Luke asks and I shrug.
“I don’t know.” Luke looks to me confused and I elaborate.
“Woke up a few weeks ago in the hospital, said I got my neck tore out from a wolf, ran some tests and couldn’t figure out who I was, all they knew was my ID name read Lennox Parker. No family, and no traces to who my parents are. They put me into the orphanage near here and that’s where I’ll stay until I turn eighteen. They enrolled me into this school and now I’m here. Yeah, definitely not what you expected.” I say as I smirk at there expressions. Livius was just curious, while the others were shocked.
“Whoa, that’s a lot.” Luca says and I chuckle.
“Nah, just a normal day in the life of Lennox. Once you spend enough time around me, weird things will start happening, so that story is pretty normal compared to the others things that’ve happened.” I say seriously and the boys look to one another with raised eyebrows.
“Well, we’ll just have to wait and find out, won’t we?” Luke says and I nod.
“Well you won’t have to wait long.” I say with a smirk, before the boys can reply the teacher interrupts with a question.
“What is so important that you aren’t listening to the lesson?” She asks and before one of the boys can make up an excuse my mouth replies before I have a chance to stop it.
“It isn’t that we aren’t completely interested in your lesson Mrs. Kelly,” I say in a sarcastic voice,
“It’s just that it’s quite boring to listen to you go on and on about a lesson that we’ve learned thousands of times.” I say with a dead stare, not that she could see me. She gasps as her mouth is held open in shock and she splutters a response.
“Ms. Parker that is no way to speak to-” She starts but I raise a hand to stop her.
“Please, stop that horrible spluttering, it’s making my ears hurt.” I say and she just stands there in shock before she composes herself and her eyes turn to anger.
“Ms. Parker, out now!” She says as she points to the door with a glare. I stay sitting as I laugh under my hood.
“Now, now, Mrs. Kelly you don’t want me to do that do you? I was having a nice conversation with the boys before you rudely interrupted me, now why don’t you chill out and continue your lesson and leave us four alone, okay?” I ask as I look her straight in her eyes, chanting over and over again, trying to get it through her head, to leave me alone. Her eyes glaze over as she nods.
“Yes, yes.” She says as she turns back to the board and continues her lesson. I lean back into my chair to see the boys looking at me with shock.
“Whoa, how’d you do that?” Luca asks and I shrug.
“I told you, weird things happen around me, turns out making teachers listen to me is one thing.” I say as I try to move past the subject, but the boys continued on.
“How’d you know her name?” Luke asks and I point to the binder on the desk.
“On the back of the binder it says her name, I just put two and two together and assumed it was hers.” I say with a roll of my eyes as Livius give me a ‘yeah, sure’ look.
“How’d you know we already learned this?” Luca asks and I point to their already finished homework assignments with a smirk.
“You’ve finished way before Ms. Prissy over there.” I say as I point to Jessi, her huffing as she hears me talking about her.
“Your pretty observant.” Livius points out and I nod.
“Somebody has to be, so why not me.” I say with a shrug as I stand up and push my chair in.
“Where are you going?” Luke asks and I point to the clock as I walk towards the front of the room.
“Class is over boys. Better hurry.” I say as I walk past everyone and walk out the door, the bell ringing just as I open the door.
What’d I say, weird things happen around me, and this was just the small things.
