The Unexpected Visitor

Hot. Sweaty. Exasperated. That was all I could think, all I could feel as the mystery man thrust in and out of me. My back arches off of the bed for deeper penetration and I moan, throwing my head back and grabbing my tits. Barking…. Dogs barking…. What in the…. I awake from my dream on the edge and frustrated, I look to my alarm clock silently setting on my nightstand; it’s three am. What in the hell. I grab my pistol from the drawer of my nightstand and throw on my robe. Bare feet quietly and methodically carry me down the hallway, then down the stairs of the old farmhouse.

When I reach the bottom of the stairs I go over and look out the window of the front door as the dogs pace around my legs, I’m not about to let them loose until I evaluate the situation. I learned my lesson the time I let them out just to find out the target of their barking happened to be a skunk. But this time there’s absolutely nothing. The flood lights have not kicked on indicating a predator is trying to break into the chicken coop, the flood light on the outside of the horse and cow barn is not on, nor is the one on either side of the front porch of the house. Hmmm. The dogs are normally quiet unless they hear something out of the ordinary.

I blush, perhaps they heard me moaning in my sleep and were worried something was wrong. That seems like a rather likely chance, it’s not often unfortunately that I have detailed erotic dreams like that. Maybe it has to do with moving out to this farm alone two years ago and only going into town occasionally. I mean, I haven’t been celibate for the last two years or anything, a girls got to do what a girls got to do. But, I will admit that my sex life definitely wasn’t anything to brag about, not that it ever was.

Of course as my thoughts wonder I recall the reason I moved out here in the first place, Michael. My ex-boyfriend, the love of my life, yada yada. Michael and I were together for 5 years until I started talking about having a family, which was when he decided that not only did he not want a family, he didn’t want me. So, I scrounged up everything I had and moved out into this old run down farmhouse in the hills of West Virginia. Thank you Michael for forcing me to make the best decision of my 25 years on this planet.

Money was as tight as it could possibly be, I ate what I raised in my garden and from my animals and sold what extra I had. I would also look for random jobs on craigslist and ask around while I was in town, but the jobs were few and far between. The issue was when you are one person trying to maintain a farm it doesn’t leave much time for an actual job. Plus who can possibly commit to a job when they never know if they’ll randomly have a sick animal, or a bottle baby that requires 24/7 care or…. Right… dogs waking you up barking and nervous at three am.

As I approach the back door through the kitchen I see the flood light is on. That’s strange, the back side of my house has a small yard that butts up to the face of a cliff. The only way to get back there is to go around the side of the house which would have tripped one of the other flood lights and they were all off. Well, I think to myself, they are on 15 minute timers, maybe whatever it is has been back there that long. I grab a flashlight off the counter, make sure my gun is loaded, and tell the dogs to stay as I slip out the door.

I hold my flashlight as I rest my gun hand on my arm to steady it, something my little sister showed me the last time she was home from the military. I begin scanning the corners of the yard that the light doesn’t reach. Nothing to the right hand side of my home, nothing to the left hand side, just nothing. Frustrated that the dogs woke me up for nothing at this time of night I start to head back to the house. That’s when for the first time I notice the large black lump laying not moving by the base of the cliff.

I slowly approach the dark lump, trying to figure out what I’m looking at and how it got there. My stomach flips and my heart drops, holy shit, it’s a human. I run the last few steps and crouch down to inspect the person, it’s an older man with salt and pepper hair. His face is bloody and his arms and legs are at weird angles, I’m trying to check for his pulse not caring that I’m now covered in his blood. Fuck fuck fuck, what do I do. Please don’t be dead is all I can think. I’m trying to check for a pulse and even though I'm not sure I’m doing this right, I’m convinced by now he’s dead.

I’m sitting back on my heels, ugly crying and grieving for this man I don’t know. Checking all of his wounds, on top of having multiple breaks in his arms and legs, everything is scraped and scratched, he must have fallen down the cliff. There’s also a large gash on his head, and an even bigger one where is neck meets his shoulder, that’s odd. There’s no sense in rushing, by the time I call 911 it’ll be a good 30 minutes for the ambulance to get here. My house is a good ways out of town down a gravel road that’ll barely hold one car. All I can think about is if I had found him sooner could I have made a difference? Not to mention what was this old man doing in the backwoods alone at night?

I slowly drag myself up, it breaks my heart to leave him lay crumpled as he is. But I need to call for help. I head inside, feet dragging, blood dripping off my hands, how had my night gone from one extreme to the next? Not to mention how is this even possible? I moved out here for the peace and quiet, no one ever shows up here whether on purpose or by accident let alone they sure as hell do not show up dead.

I get to the door, calm the dogs down and walk into the kitchen. Looking down I can already see the mess I’m going to have to deal with in the morning. Blood drips from me to the floor but I can’t bring myself to care right now as I head upstairs to grab my cell. I collapse onto the recliner in the corner of my room, the only place on the whole farm that has reception and with shaking hands I call the sheriff.

Roxx@n: It was longer, it was a really good read. I enjoyed it a lot. Wanted to see if Carlos became a great dad and he Grayson his friend out loud. He's rather closed off so a lil broader back story would be nice. And yes the wedding and twins announcement. A girl can hope right?
