Meta-Crisis

Warning!: This story contains fake science and is only for the story’s progression. DO NOT BELIEVE ANY SCIETIFIC SOUNDING IDEAS WITHOUT FIRST GOOGLING THEM! Also, these are all ideas from my mind, no I don’t believe that these are actually possible. (Although who knows?).

Summary(because it’s long):

On May 8th, 2028, the world’s first large scale ionic-cold fusion generator was turned on the outskirts of Newhaven. For two weeks, the world rejoiced as it had now solved the energy crisis. However, celebration quickly turned to despair as the generator exploded and released a wave of exotic matter the world over. Panic, riots, and pandemonium became rampant as every living organism on the planet became irradiated, which no idea of what would happen or if it could be cured. However, what really took the world by storm was the rise of meta-humans. In the last three years since the explosion, out of 7.2 billion people, 10 million became endowed with supernatural and amazing abilities. No one knows exactly what caused these abilities to form, but only two facts are known, the person has always felt that these powers were always apart of them...always dormant, and that they were under extreme duress when they first used them.

Sid Richerds never believed that the incident ever actually happened. Everywhere he looks is exactly the same as it was three years ago...if you look past the occasional scorch marks and hero sized craters. Ever since the New Genesis, the name people gave to the generator’s explosion and the birth of the metas, the world has been trying to quickly adjust, yet for Sid, it still feels like the day before the world stood still. However, the only thing missing are Sid’s mother and older sister. Their deaths made Sid hate all metas. Until the day he shot a lightning bolt at a local mugger.

That day changed Sid’s life as he had to leave his old life behind to transfer into the first class of Rorschach Academy, the world’s first and only academy for young metas.

The only thing that Rush had ever felt like a failure. A speedster in his 60’s, he has never felt a sense of accomplishment regardless of what he’s done. Whether it was his job as a cop turned PI, a father trying to restore the relationship with his distant daughter, or as a superhero, he has always felt like he was just...behind. So, when he was offered a chance to begin teaching the next generation of metas, he tries to put everything behind him and start a new.

As Sid begins his training and Rush tries to reassemble his life, the world begins to get rocked once again as more and more metas begin to appear in exponential numbers. This worries the meta community, as these new metas aren’t just developing powers, but they are also mutating into weapons. Backed into a corner, the metas who once renowned as the new gods are now fugitives of the law, and it is now up to the few remaining, including Sid and Rush, to solve the problem of the Meta-Crisis.
