The Next Day:

The day started normally. It was finally lunch and Claire, Amelia, and Vanessa met in their usual spot on a bench by the tree.

“I’m so excited to skip school, we haven’t hung out together at Tyler’s place in forever” Amelia whined as she took a bite of her pasta.

“Ma chère, you complain too much!” Claire giggled

“Soooo, Claire?” Amelia asked exaggerated.

“Why you say ’Claire’”? Claire accused giggling.

“Amelia stop being weird!” Vanessa laughed also gently smacking Amelia on the head.

“Hey so um...I was just going to ask, do you like board games Claire?” Amelia asked and looked down at the ground trying to create curiosity. They looked at each other and Claire said she did like them.

Vanessa was mostly reading her book while Claire used french words to annoy Amelia. Soon after the bell rang, George, Tyler, Amelia, Vanessa, and Claire were all on their way excited to ditch school, and hang at Tyler’s house instead of tolerating math next period.

As they approached Tyler’s house, Amelia starts laughing.

“Claire are you sure you like board games?” Amelia laughed nervously.

“Seriously, again?” Vanessa rolled her eyes and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Wait, Amelia, you told them?” Tyler accused.

“Tell us what?” Claire and Vanessa jinxed. Tyler and Amelia just stared at each other laughing, then bolted for the front door.

“Guys wait up!” George whined grabbing Vanessa’s and Claire’s hands to make them run with him faster. When they finally got inside Tyler’s house, he was already in his room while Amelia waited in the entrance for them.

“Dit nous c’est quoi tu cache!” Claire shouted, but smiling as always.

“What’s up? And what’s with all this talk about ‘board games’”? George asked. Amelia was about to answer but Tyler interrupted.

“Come on! We have a board game ready to play” Tyler shouted.

They took off their coats and boots and ran for his room. Claire and George took the bed while Amelia, Vanessa, and Tyler sat on the floor. Tyler reached for something under his bed and grabbed a flat rectangle box. Claire, Vanessa, and George didn’t know what it was until he opened it. Inside was a brown board and a triangle piece of wood with a hole in the middle. In the hole, there was glass to look through. It was an ouija board.
