Chapter One

It’s pretty obvious. When I’m with the rest of my family, I’m 99.9% sure that everyone we pass thinks I’m adopted.

Or worse. The butler or something, probably.

But I’m not. Middle child of the Abbott family, troublemaker, disgrace to the family name, black sheep.

No one tells me that I’m different. But it’s pretty obvious.

I’m the middle child of the richest people in Salt Lake City. Trust me, there are MANY rich people in Salt Lake. I repeat. MANY RICH PEOPLE. But my parents? They bring home ALL the bacon. Our maid probably makes more than a surgeon. I don’t even try to guess how much my parents make.

Will I inherit any of the money or zillion dollar worth things we have? Probably not. I mean, even in my own house, I'm separated from my family. Like they don't want to have to deal with me or something.

You see, my family is probably the most renowned family in the world. We have started multiple charities ( I somehow got bamboozled into volunteering at 8 out of 12 of them), my parents are both CEO’s of different companies and ( yeah, there’s more ) are basically the goody two shoes of Utah... or America for that matter.

My siblings are almost mirrored images of my mom and dad. My older brother, Sam, is on the way to taking over Abbott Incorporation of Toys. Yes. My dad runs a place that makes and sells toys. Anyway, back to my perfect older brother. He also has straight A’s in school and all of the people attending his college are his friends.

Then you look at my little sister, Catherine. Her nickname is Cat because when she was little she absolutely loved the animals. She is an eighth-grader growing up to be the most strong, intelligent, and independent woman you will ever meet. She’s taking the road that leads her up to the CEO of my mom’s company. I don’t even know what the company is. It’s like since I won’t have a future that has to do with it, I’m shut out of it. I’m not hurt though. I actually want to become a writer one day. The only reason I know what my dad’s company produces is that he used to bring all the toys to ” test out ” for his kids, earning them allowance money.

Then you look at me. When they say I'm different, they mean different. The rest of my family has chestnut brown hair and matching chocolate eyes. I have really awesome matcha green eyes and dirty blonde hair. Almost a Chad, but not quite, thankfully.

I’m the kid in school who always wears black. Maybe sometimes blue or grey. I’m on the basketball, track, and most importantly, the football team at South High. I’m a star athlete. In class, I wear these circular, gold-rimmed glasses which the girls love for some reason. I'm also an incredible student, somehow. I own an awesome Harley that I call ACE. Don't ask where I got the name.

In my regular high school, I have literally NO friends. It's not that I'm antisocial or anything. I'm just not... overly social like the rest of my family is. It's a little hard to say, but, I really am the black sheep of my family.
