Keep It Caged
The best of the best, I can attest, you were above the rest, ripping the heart from my chest as it rests safely behind my breast. When fallen was this crest, soul drowned in a pool of cest, feeling destitute dressed in rags soon caressed by hands in jest. I thought I knew best, but you were no better than the rest.
Rage is engaged as I put pen to page in hopes to assuage, but the pain doesn’t go away upon this stage as I turn away. Perhaps it is my age, too close to sage, that brings us to this stage where the plague of love does enrage. As the gauge of my strength wanes, I seek a way to tame the rage, but the only way I can save what’s left of the day is to keep this heart in a cage.
