Prologue

POV: God

It was peaceful there. The warm water ran down my body. I had never felt more stable than there on that cool, smooth rock. I looked around the beautiful scene before me and felt a strange but not unwelcome sense of peace and joy overwhelm me.

'This is the world I shall make, and it will be beautifully perfect in all of it's ways. All living creatures made here will be made equal none more or less superior than the other. All they will ever have to feel is love, peace, and happiness here' I had thought to myself.

The water stopped flowing and I glanced behind me. I wave of pure unadulterated horror washed over me as I saw my maker. They ruined everything I built. There was no peace, no love, and the mer idea of happiness seemed to confuse those who had not even entered this world yet.

'No, this was all wrong. They ruined everything...again. There is not love nor peace; all I see is sorrow and unneeded heartbreak. This couldn't be the world that I made.' I dreaded to myself.

I was truly foolish to think that I might be able to save it, but then I grew. I saw that it was all truly doomed from the start due to the corruption my maker placed in them.

Even though the seeds of corruption were planted by my maker I refused to excuse the things they did. No, I punished them for their tyranny, for their judgement, and for their wickedness. I tortured them for their harm to the innocents and mercy to the guilty. I killed them for their war crimes and slavery. All faced the same judgment that they passed onto others.

I was not mercilus though, I rewarded and cherished the innocent who did not give way to the seeds of corruption. I avenged every single one of their souls as a parent would for their child, as a spouse for their spouse, and as knight for a fallen kingdom.

All of this was done in my name and mine alone.

The loneliness and heartbreak had been nearly unbearable. I missed seeing the rare moments of joy my old creation would have, so I made a new world. This world was even more peacefully beautiful than the last. I took the dreams that my old creation had about beautiful mermaids and seductive sirens and placed them all into this world. Then I hid it. I hid it far away into the very depths of the void where my maker had next to no control.

I took the souls of the innocent and placed them into this new world. I watched them grow and populate while making their own cultures and families. All of this they did blissfully unaware of the true horrors they had faced in there first life.

With the knowledge of their peace and safety I could feel myself for the first time in long time start to fall asleep.
