Chapter 1
Genesis POV
Death. Blood. The stench of rotting bodies..
I closed my eyes tight and crawled over the bodies, sliding my body over them to stay away from the smoke which was right above my head.
A hand wrapped itself over my ankle pulling me back, I turned around to kick but saw a young face but old body she looked to be 46?
I gasped turning over and crawling her way, “how are you alive”
Her reply was short and cross “They are too dumb to notice my aging i use a beauty creme”
Noting my confusion she continued “It’s made out of the ashes of Empresa the most beautiful vampire I’ve ever met”
Finally understanding I sank back onto the balls of my feet hugging my knees. The only comfort I felt, was my own presence till I met her
Her arms clawed at the ground and her nails ripped up dirt as she pulled her body out from the diseased ones.
Several symbols all alike were branded across her neck except for one spot where bite marks showed she had been feeded on recently
She coughed ducking lower away from the smoke. Her raspy voice was just a silent whisper “what’s your name child?”
I looked up and paused, what if she is a spy for the vampires? I could hear my own heart race but her face just twisted in pain as her ankle was freed from under a big boulder.
She huffed “Im Melita” that’s the first time I had smiled since the accident.
“I love that name” eyeing her I nodded “it suits you”
She gave me a small smile in return and scrambled over to me.
A loud buzzing sound repeated over and over.
Melita and I shared a look of confusion, we assumed everyone was dead, that the vampires had fed off of everyone then left our corpse’s to rot.
Melita linked her hand in mine it was a cool touch to my skin, silent shakes of a chill crept up my spine.
“Toss yourself down like you died clumsy and breathe into a dead body” Melita turned away shielding her human stench into a body.
I did the same pushing my face into the coat and forced my body to stop shaking, the little spasms would be noticable
A dead body twitching wouldn’t last this long.
I went limp until a hand caressed the top of my head, a ear splitting scream threatened to rip my throat open.
But the hand was faster clamping over my mouth.
My lips coiled as I could feel the rough calices rubbed against my cheek, the dirt rubbing off onto my white face.
“Lie still” the deep voice hushed me and i relaxed, my eyes trying to look over his shoulder to find Melita.
Dark figures approached their footsteps sounded as they came near.
“We smell you, human” a cold voice growled and a hand crept over the bodies around us feeling for a heat source.
The guy I was leaning on blinked.
The hand grasped his neck and pulled him up the voice owning the hand cackled
“Well well well... Seems to me we’ve caught a refugee” the human apparently known as Dalton simply relaxed in the vampires hands.
All 3 of the vampires stared around at the clearing, hissing they turned around and ran taking the human with them.
