Prologue
“Sweetie, watch your brother while we’re gone! Daddy and I will be back in a few, okay?!”
The couple at the door hear the running footsteps of who can only be their daughter.
“Okay Ma!-” the couple see her messy head of curly fire peep through the doorway “I’ll take good care of him, I promise. You and dad enjoy your night out.” she finishes with a bright smile as her petite form comes to view in the hall completely.
The couple smiles at her. The man leaves his spot to walk towards the small girl, “Thank you Cuddle Bear-” he starts embracing the girl in his arms, taking in her scent of cinnamon vanilla, “I’m sure you will do a great job.” he finishes with a kiss on her forehead. After a few squeezes shared between the two, the man moves from the girl to the other room, where a sleeping toddler in the crib lays peacefully, making room for his wife to say her goodbyes.
Embracing her eldest child in her arms, the woman squeezes her tight. “I’m going to miss the both of you.” the woman whispers in her daughter’s ears. The girl laughs. “You’ll only be gone for a few hours, besides I have your numbers by heart if anything happens-which it wont, but just in case.” she replies, trying to comfort her mother as best as she can. “I know. but it’s been a while s-” her mother starts, “-exactly why we should go out,my love, we will come back to them, but for now it’s time for a little alone time.” the man interrupts.
With that the couple said their ‘I love yous’ and left the girl.
