Chapter 1

Night sky flowing by like dark waves of depression, looking out into the dark sky every time I think about the day it always brings back the gloom. That is why I only work at night and sleep all day, those we ho choose the night are of a special breed they don’t care for the pleasantries of people nor do they see the world in the same light. Normally they see all of the disfiguration and problems but not everybody who walks in the shadows stay sane, some loose there way, others fall to depression and take there own life.

For me, though its to stay away from all those that would see me, I like to work alone and be alone nothing will change that.

“Smith, were arriving on the scene make sure you’re prepared.”

Peering over to Marona investigator for the united nations or for short U.N. I hate them all of them why they asked me to help is beyond me, and not to mention my own stupidity for even agreeing with them to work on this case. Marona wasn’t too bad though she stays quit doesn’t ask me questions and stays to her self now that is a good person, seeing red and blue lights flashing ahead of us we turned off the main road heading down a long dirt one, trees were abundant around us with a lot of brush, it was an ideal area to hide a lot of things from drugs to humans.

The human race is such a disgusting species were the only ones to completely destroy our own world, all of the way to slavery. If you can think of it the human race has gone out of there way to do it fracking has been a new crave, stupid now were poisoning our own water supply just for more money greed and stupidity.

“Smith were here.” Looking ahead dozens of cop cars lined up around a house several state troopers, feeling the car park.

Getting out of the car walking forward grabbing a pack from my chest pocket taking a smoke lighting it inhaling deep, then exhaling looking ahead getting my self mentally prepared for what is going to come next. Marona walking in front of me as the two of us continued walking up two state troopers, they were talking amongst themselves selfs although one was clearly upset nearly yelling at the other. as Marona stepped up to them one of them immediately turned around snapping.

“What do you want girl!”

She nearly jumped from him walking past her walking up to his face staring down to him inhaling smoke, then exhaling it allowing all of the smoke to hit his face. He was immediately filled with anger drawing his weapon, but before he could even unstrap his pistol I drew my dagger up to his neck holding it there.

“We are here to remedy the situation pig now I would like it if you kept your self in a dignified manner before I slice it out of your neck.” The trooper was quivering with fear “you, you can’t threaten me, I’m an officer of the law you have to obey me.”

His words shallow with fear “oh, is that right I was not under the understanding of that see I work for the U.N, so I serve no country or their laws now I could kill you right now smother your body in gasoline then piss on you, nobody would be able to stop me no country could say anything, now what will you do officer?”

He took his hand off the weapon then dropped to his knees sheathing my dagger back in its place right under my cloak looking to the other trooper.

“What’s your name?” he immediately saluted “I’m officer Adams and the other is Jefferson sorry sir for the inconvenience you have suffered.”

Grabbing the smoke dropping it to the ground then stepping on it with my black boot.

“What is the problem you have been happening” he immediately pulled out a yellow folder handing it to me “this supposed to be handed to you Promptly.”

Taking it in my hands looking down to it a red seal designed as an eagle the red wax was sublime breaking the seal then taking out the single piece of paper.

“No survivors”

Nodding my head softly dropping the paper and the note on the ground then reaching slowly into my cloak, both my hands gripping the grip of my MP5 swiftly pulling it out. As the officers started to draw their weapons, Marona tackled Jefferson then I pointed the weapon at Adams. Looking in his eyes he was young but orders are orders there isn’t anything I can do about this, pulling the trigger as a single bullet penetrated his skull shooting out a spray of blood out of the back, looking to Marona had stabbed Jefferson three times in the throat, walking forward.

“What did the note say smith?” walking forward “no witnesses.”

Walking left holding the mp5 up to my shoulder

“understood,”

Marona took the opposite way walking up around the cars at least five officers standing there. Pulling the trigger feeling the kickback of the weapon as all five of them were hit in the chest with the rounds. Dropping the mag out of the weapon pulling another from my hip then tapping it back into place, keeping the weapon to my chest watching all of my surroundings once I saw the area clear, headed for the five officers I had killed all of them had surprised looks on there faces. Opening up one of the officer’s coat pocket grabbing his wallet looking at it a short stream of pictures came flowing down, showing him with his little girl and wife.

“They will not suffer like you”

Standing back up hearing the sound of swishing looking behind Marona came around with what seemed to be a gas can.

“What is that?” I asked with confusion she handed it to me it was only a few gallons, “it’s a cocktail of different things put it on the bodies they will not be able to determine who they are I did the same to the guards on the other side as well.”

Tossing the wallet on the man’s corpse then dousing them with it tossing the jug in the middle of them.

“Ready let’s check the house” stepping past them heading to the house all of the lights were off it seemed vacant, tapping the side of my eye, green holo optics appeared in front of them turning everything bright.

“I’ll go in first you follow” Marona got behind me lifting my leg kicking the door watching it blow off of the door hitch then crash to the floor. lowering the weapon looking inside.

“Go!”

Walking in swiftly keeping the gun chest height

“Scan.”

A red pulse emanated into the house looking around but nothing was highlighted “there is no human signatures inside’ hearing a thud upstares.

“that is not right.” Marona said with confusion “yes you’re correct in that there is somebody in this house, and as far as I know, the U.N hasn’t made anything that can block a human signature scanner lets go.”

Walking around looking to my right wooden stairs leading up to the second-floor taking point, taking the first step up the stairs the old wood creaked doing my best to stay quiet but this house was not built within the last 60 years. Stepping up further reaching the second flor then getting to the top. A short hallway laid there with two doors in front of me pointing to the door on the left Marona quickly went to it, standing behind her ready we both rushed the door looking around the room but nothing the window was broken with all of the old paint chipping off shaking y head.

“One last room”

We both slowly went to it, getting to the door first putting my hand on the cold doorknob. Nodding my head to Marona then quickly opening it we both rushed in a blue light shot towards me. Grabbing Marona pushing her to the side as a searing pain shot through my right arm dropping the weapon hitting the ground looking up the optics wee malfunctioning just static, tapping the side of my eyes they dissipated away my eyes adjusting to the darkness an orange orb sat in the middle of the room, blue lighting streeks coming from the young girl on the inside of it.

“What are you?”

The girl was afraid, Marona quickly came over covering me sitting up against the wall grabbing a smoke from my pack lighting it.

“Marona I need you to move” she was hesitant “no smith my only job is to keep you alive.”

Blowing out the smoke, “she doesn’t want to kill us if she did we would already be dead right now” Marona lowered her hands looking to the girl “tell me what is your name?”

The blue lightning started to dissipate slowly away, “I don’t have one” her voice soft as flower petals she couldn’t be any older than twenty years old. Nodding my head “that is a shame you can call me smith and as for my Allie here her name is Marona.”

The girl looked to Marona then back to me “give me one”

confused by her words “give you what” she immediately spoke “a name give me a name” thinking for a moment.

“Astrape”

She looked at me pleased with the name, Marona looked to me “what is that from” smiling looking to Astrape “she was being underneath Zeus one that brought lighting”

Standing up my left arm hanging down walking to the orange seal. “tell me what would you like to do with your life” Astrape looked up to me ” I don’t know I’m not even sure where I’m at right now.”

Laying my hand on the orb watching as the particles dissipated away revealing her she rose, standing the same height as me

“well, then you shall be underneath me” Astrape smiled then bowed.
