Rip van 1st Sargeant Joseph

This is my story you can choose to believe it heck you might even criticize it. I don’t know how you may have found this letter i had no one that cared to read this let me explain. I was born on Jan 13, 1922, now you’re thinking so what does this mean well I drafted at age of 18... do the math! Now how is that possible? Well to sum it up, it was my birthday, 18 about to go out into the world to make a name for myself! Then boom!... I woke up in 1955 with no clue of how I got here. Before I could figure out anything, I was drafted in the Army 1st infantry division hance the letter. This letter is all who’s interested in reading it: My platoon is going out on patrol...good hopes to a safe return!

Nov 6, 1955

My platoon has just finished patrol ’“Kasese our private was shoot died” right in front of me I believe he took the bullet for me I don’t know why. He had a life to live friends and family to go home back to I have lost a brother today I go to sleep knowing who will have to take a bullet for me next “I won’t let it happen again”

Jan 13, 1966

To believe that 11 years ago that I was 18. I wish that the war will end soon it was stupid of me to think a blew out candle on a sorry excuse for a cake they give me a break at least I have that al think al have a couple of drinks before I hit the cot and get some much-needed sleep good night happy birthday jake.
