Bullet Pursuit
Let him not rule your mind or body,
until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.
Take special care that your thoughts remain unfettered.
“Is man merely a mistake of God’s?
Or God merely a mistake of man?”
Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the people that are seared with scars.
He awaits the rain like a writer embraces metaphors.
I told him how I made all those mistakes
and how all the colours I am inside have not been invented yet.
The only reason I can’t jump in and engage life is that I’ve told myself I can’t.
My beast was a man in beast trappings.
He never engages in a fight he’s sure to lose,
but the unreal was real,
and hoping the nightmare would end was like trying to remember
a man I never met.
You say you’re always sad,
and if you’re always sad when you think about me,
then how can you remember me?
The trouble with shooting men,
is that it’s so hard to do
just one.
