A man-made virus has infected over half the population of the world after pharmaceutical companies distribute a “cure all drug” called UGEN. When the miracle drug has adverse effects and a “cure for the cure” is developed, LRS-10, the side effects are intensified and victims are turned into raving, mindless, creatures driven by base needs and violent intent. Two years after the intentional outbreak and after surviving by any means necessary, two boys, Antonio (a young man with ODD, oppositional defiant disorder) and Miles (a boy with autism), are left to fend for themselves after being taught what it takes to survive in this new world by their surrogate father, Johnathan (an ex-military veteran who worked as a maintenance man at their school for special needs). The lessons they’ve learned have kept them alive and isolated, but for how long? With their food supplies running low they have to think about venturing out to find more, but will the lessons they’ve learned continue to keep them alive or will they have to go against what their old man taught them in order to live?
