Chapter 2
The shadowy figure gives Jess a big toothy smile as his silhouette hands grab out for Jess and pull her to the ground. Winter is still wrapped around Jess’s neck as she growls in anger, leaps off Jess’s neck. Winter attacks the shadow hand to release her, but to no success. Jess knew this was her choice that she made it and she didn’t want to drag Winter along with her to suffer from whatever fate awaits her.
“Run away, Winter. Save yourself,”
Winter shakes her head and tries to bite on the shadow tentacles but it doesn’t work; the shadow grabs Winter in its clutches.
They get dragged closer to the shadow’s body as it pulls them into a hole. It engulfs them whole, as they are plummeting through the void. Jess is falling into a pit of nothing and sees her life flash before her eyes. Then, Jess and Winter are floating in a void of darkness. A mirror floats down to Jess and she looks through it and she is horrified to see her reflection take her place in the real world.
Jess is seeing the shadowy figure laugh hysterically at the townspeople running in fear, sucking the souls of the people in order to restore his powers to full strength. Jess watches her evil counterpart destroy the city she loves—This place she once called home being destroyed in a blink of an eye. She can hear the screams of the townspeople dying and the buildings being set ablaze, by the figure pointing directly at the library, where Jess used to study. She sees the shadowy figure who brought her to the dark grave. It grows double in size and peers into the mirror, smiling wickedly at her and says.
“You want to know the truth, Jess, you were just a vessel, to enter this world and devour the souls of this pathetic town,” he says.
“So I was just a pawn, to your evil scheme, and there is no prophecy?”
“Of course, you silly girl, there is no legend. That shop owner was simply my puppet,”
“Why didn’t I realize this sooner,” she whimpers, “I can’t b-b-e-live this! I should have never agreed to this!”
“Your nothing but a pathetic girl,” He replies. “I hope you enjoy your new home,”
The shadowy figure disappears from Jess’s view, and as the mirror begins to fade, Jess sees her evil counterpart looking at her with some blood on the side of her face; her eyes are glowing brightly. She lifts up a severed hand to her mouth as she chews on it like beef jerky.
Jess tries to fight back the urge to throw up. She hears her evil twin laugh, making her entire body tremble in fear, and Jess hears these final words for the last time.
“Thank you for setting me free, sister. “ she says. “I’ll tell Mom and Dad you said hi,”
The mirror fades away and Jess is trapped in the shadowy prison. here…
