The Malix-Cordia Accord

Malix, what was once seen only as a harmless group of rebels became a country within a decades time. In its beginning, the small country had far more wars than any other country in history as others tried to prevent them from growing, mainly the neighboring country of Cordia.

Unlike Malix, who's population was dense with individuals whose physical prowess and combat abilities far exceeded that of any normal person; Cordia was a land of magic users. The two countries were polar opposites and unable to accept one another, so, it became a battle between Martialists and Casters. Centuries of fighting led to nothing more than an increase in deaths, the two sides were too evenly matched in their own respects. That is until the first Harbinger was born. A child from Cordia who manipulated three core elements: fire, space, and light. The military protected such an asset until she could fight on their front lines.

Seeing such immense power from one person scared Malix and set them on a path of research far beyond their morale code. Malix succeeded in creating a being powerful in both Magic and Hand-to-Hand combat. To this day the people of Malix are ignorant of the Harbinger's creation and he became known as the Harbinger of Justice since he kept Cordia from taking over. He battled the strongest of the Casters, and the first to take the name of Harbinger of Chaos.

Battle between the two Harbingers leveled towns, dried rivers, and scarred the earth. When the two died, two more took their place as if it were a cycle that would never end. And; for generations, thousands of years, the Harbingers were pitted against one another. One hundred and fifty years ago, tired of fighting, the two Harbingers refused to fight; and instead forced the countries to sign a peace treaty- The Malix-Cordia Accord. The Accord wasn’t just a physical document. Justice and Chaos agreed the war must end. So, the two used their combined power to create a spell that would destroy the invisible barrier between Martialists and Casters which cost them their lives.

They created a new world where one could not live without the other. No one knows if the two Harbingers meant for their spell to do what it did, but life changed that day for everyone. Suddenly, having power wasn't a good thing. For a caster, their magic would destroy their bodies from the inside. For Martialists, an unnatural force would drive them into a coma leaving their body to rot. Scientists discovered two ways to activate the curse; one was to reach adulthood, and the other was to lose your virginity before reaching maturity. The only cure to the curse was for a Caster and Martialist to become one. No one knows whether this was intended or an unnatural side effect of clashing powers, but all agreed it was a curse.

One hundred fifty years later, the spell remained unbroken. Martialists and Casters learned to live with one another peacefully, but the militaries still hated one another. At the age of thirteen, individuals who wished to be part of Cordia's army enrolled in Ashward Academy. Those who wanted to be part of Malix's militia attended Halix Academy in their homeland. Since the curse was activated more children who could manipulate more than one core element were born, strengthening Cordia. However these children were not Harbingers. Both sides await new Harbingers in hopes of manipulating them once more. However, no one knows what the curse would do to beings with immense power.
