The Girl On TV

Mathis was proud of himself. A shy, country boy from Holly Springs, Mississippi, he had the worst time trying to find a date. Usually when he talked to girls, they would friend-zone him, but he kept trying anyway. Tonight, it finally paid off, because Mathis was laying in bed with what he considered to be the most beautiful woman in the South, Emily Williams.

She was a short brunette with hazel eyes, a soft country accent and a figure that would make a Victoria Secrets model jealous. She and Mathis locked eyes at a local bar a few hours earlier. A football game and a few beers later, she gave him an offer he would be stupid to refuse.

When he went to the kitchen to grab something to drink, he could hear the ten o’clock news on his TV in the living room.

Officials from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations have identified the suspect behind the recent string of killings in the North Mississippi area.

He left his glasses on his nightstand and had to squint to see the screen.

State Troopers are currently looking for Emily Williams, a twenty-eight year old Alabama native who authorities believe is responsible for murdering four men from Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia...

Mathis dropped his beer, and it spilled onto the carpet beside his foot. The serial killer who has been terrorizing the South, was the woman sleeping in his bed.

“Oh, hell naw.” He said.

“Mathis?” Emily called out. “When did you get up?”

“Uh...” Mathis uttered. “I-I just wanted a beer. Didn’t want to wake you.”

She strutted over and ran her hand up his back and through his hair, teasing his ear as she kissed his neck.

When she locked eyes with him like before, she knew she owned him.

“Come back to bed, baby.” She cooed, and that’s what he did.

Mathis really was blinded by love. So blind, he didn’t notice the knife Emily grabbed off the counter as they walked by.

So that’s one of the things that’s confusing. It doesn...
