Chapter 1
There I was wandering the woods, passing tree after tree. The sound of the packing snow under my feet was clearly heard in the solitary forest. With the snow filling the air, falling at an uneven pace I peer over my shoulder to find Violet gone. With the scattered flakes on my eyelashes, I look around for her. She couldn’t have run too far off. I continue looking as a piercing chill runs down my back. Could it be? I need to find Violet before this gets dangerous. Dragging my feet with every step I stumble over what I thought to be a rock. As I fall into what I could call oblivion the darkness filled the air. Looking down I can’t see any sign of a bottom. The chilling air soon left with a blast of the icy cold ground. With a thump and a turn, I manage I jump back to my feet. I look around and take a breathe in. Realizing what I had just dropped into I slowly back away from where I fell. After what seemed to be ten feet I stop. Blank, soulless eyes meet my eyes from the depths of the darkness. What kind of staring contest is this? The intense heat coming from his eyes and yet the frigid cold coming from his body distracts me. It moves closer towards me. After four or five feet have been lost I start to panic. He’s holding Violet by her feet swaying her side to side. Laughter emerges from his frosty breathe. I soon see his true figure. I called out with an unsteady and raspy voice, “I’m home... Papa.”
