We will now be entering the basic exposition of the story, as the author doesn’t want to come up with a stupid and creative way to urge you into her world and would rather throw a bunch of information at you and hope you understand. Thank you for your cooperation!

I would start with our main character, but it seems you don’t know the now three (3) basic races of our fictional world, so I’ll be teaching them to you! Our first race is a basic one, and a race that most readers of this story will be; humans. Humans are just as stupidly arrogant and generally idiotic as they are in real life, so you needn’t imagine too hard on them. Our second and third races are relatives of each other, so I’ll explain as basically as possible. There are two (2) types of spirits in this world: the Blessed Spirits and the Decade Spirits. Blessed Spirits were purposefully made by the nature goddess, who will remain anonymous of name until she is relavent to the plot again. Blessed Spirits are embodiments of plants and animals, but only the plant spirits have magic relating to their plant and general plants. This is probably because the nature goddess thought animals were too stupid to do magic.

The other type of spirits, the Decade Spirits, were accidentally created by a trickster god. The basic story is a trickster god wanted to play a slightly harmful prank on an unsuspecting Blessed Spirit (the only spirit type at the time) and invited him to dinner. The god had made a special wine that made those who were not gods lust for immortality and kill other living things to gain more life. The spirit’s entire body, skin blood, the vines that grew all over, every part became corrupted and corrupted any living thing with the same dying lust he had been infected with. It took only a short few days for the nature goddess to realize something was wrong with one of her people, but the damage was done. He had inadvertently corrupted and killed plants and animals he’d passed and gave several other Blessed Spirits the same corruption. The nature goddess could not right the corruption that had infected her people without the help of the trickster god but he was nowhere to be found, so she did what she was able to do.

The only thing she was able to do, though, was to make them immortal for a decade of being a corrupted spirit, and then force them to find a specific plant that is never the same one twice to become immortal for another decade. Some people say that the goddess judges them by their actions and accordingly makes their plant closer or further to them depending on how she has judged them. Others say that if a Decade Spirit is good enough in the nature goddess’ eyes they can become a Blessed Spirit and have pure magic and immortality.

Now that we’ve gotten the basic worldbuilding finished, we can work on explaining our main characters.

The MAIN main squeeze:

Name (yes we’re doing it this way) - Az. A nickname bestowed upon him by a certain little bird that he has everyone call him.

Age - no. Okay fine, he’s older than he looks. Like way older. He’s been through quite a few “decade-dying sessions.”

Race - Decade Spirit, sub type plant. Oh wait this probably should’ve come first. Oops.

Physical traits - very tan skin from being in the sun a lot. He kind of has to so he doesn’t immediately die from lack of sun the next decade. Other physical traits are cute lil freckles all over his body, the signature plant spirit ears (plant spirits, decade or blessed, have “droopy elf” ears while animal spirits have “perky” or “normal elf” ears), honey/amber eyes, kind of shaggy brown hair (I have a picture I would just have to go find it again and im lazy rn). Physically, he probably looks mAybE 20 or something.

Personality traits - bro ur gonna have to find and decide those for yourself, I’m not gonna give you all the answers.

Typical clothing - he usually wears clothing that covers as much skin as possible because it doesn’t matter if a Decade Spirit is in their dying state or not, their skin and blood is still able to corrupt/kill the living. Usually like long sleeves and gloves, long pants that tuck into shin-length boots. When he’s out and about in places where people don’t know him, he wears a hooded cloak to create another barrier between his skin and other people, but also to hide his spirit ears. In some places, spirits in general are not treated as respectfully as they could be treated because people are very wary of Decade Spirits.

The secondary main squeeze:

Name - Crow. Just Crow. She never really thought about a name and just got used to Az calling her Crow so that’s just her name now.

Age - Also nope. She looks like 11 years old and shes young for a crow spirit but she’s been with Az for more decade-dying sessions than her appearance lets on.

Race - Blessed Spirit, sub type animal.

Physical traits - Dark skin cuz why not, black-brown flooffy hair because young birbs are puffy babies. No freckles or anything. Normal animal spirit ears, blue eyes.

Personality traits - again im not gonna give u all the quiz answers but if you must know she is very loyal to her family and she includes Az in her family. Just not blood family.

Typical clothing - uh ive been drawing her mostly in roughed up tunics and breeches, still trying to decide on shoes (whether she wears them or not, if she does what would she wear blah blah blah.) When she’s dealing with Az or any other Decade Spirits’ exposed skin she’ll wear gloves cuz shes not dumb she knows she’ll get corrupted and she doesn’t really wanna go through what her bff/basically brother has been going through. Same with Az, she wears a hooded cloak so that she doesn’t get bs from shitty humans.

One other important thing to note before we start our story is that Blessed plants usually enter a Blessed animal spirit into a contract so that the plant spirit has someone to protect them. Decade plants can do this too but most animal spirits, Blessed or Decade don’t wanna go into a magic contract with a Decade plant. Our MAIN main squeeze has a protector spirit, its Crow. He only entered her in the contract because she was being a nosy little thief and he needed some way to keep an eye on her but now she slaps some sense into him and is also someone to bounce ideas off of.
