Summary

“ I'll do anything. ” She promised. She than anyone else knew that desperate times called for desperate measures. “ Well then, ” He said and pulled out his gun aimed at her chest and shot, the bullet passing through her and stuck on the tree behind her. He then replaced the bodies and destroyed any traces of him being there. He put new traces of his own, so that her death was caused by a hunter who missed a deer target and ended up killing a girl. Then he ran away. The people under the scenes that killed every Delarusso heir alive were what made her do this. Rosa Delarusso was the last remaining heir to the Delarusso empire. She was unknown to the world before her death and became publicly famous as the unfortunate girl who could have lived the life of a queen. The people working against her who made her do this would do anything to get their hands on the property, getting rid of any living heir to the empire, including her. She did this not knowing if she would find the answers behind all this, but what she didn't know was that what they were after was much more powerful, much more dangerous, than what she could ever imagine.

Chapter 1

Lilly's pov

The whole death thing didn't seem right to me. We had been friends, at least that's what I know. How could the girl who came to our shop everyday be dead. She was not that talkative, that I could agree, but how was she suddenly in the news. Puzzling of all as the last heir to the whole Delarusso property. She had told me her name was Jane. Jane Thompson. But the face on the screen was definitely her, but with a different name. Rosa Delarusso.

She came to our shop, just like everyday the last day she was seen alive. She took the usual and left, to wherever she always went to. One time I tried following her, but she disappeared up the street. And anytime I tried following her again, she just disappeared. Twas a mystery to me. Then how could she suddenly be wiped off the face of the earth? There was something here, something not right. Something more than what they showed in the news. A hunter? How could a hunter miss and kill a girl? It was possible, but not in my head. But not in what my instincts told me.

I finished polishing the counter since I had finished everything before. It was to keep me busy, but busy always brought me to thoughts that were no longer my own. She was getting burried on a Thursday, two days from now. A day like this was a Tuesday evening. The sun was setting into the horizon. The shop was not as crowded as the morning hours, it was the time I mostly precioused. But my thoughts were jumbled up in my head. It came as an effect of not having something to keep me busy enough.

The time went by fast. In no time it was nine pm and I was closing up the shop. I made my way through the dark alleway, I didn't have a choice. Taking the other way around would be much safer, but longer. And I wanted to get home as fast as possible. I heard footsteps behind me. I was lucky I was not alone. On most nights one or two people would be walking through this alleyway with me, desperate to get home. But not this one. I had mustered the art of walking. Without looking back I knew the person was a man. But he was not going home, he was following me.

His footsteps were fast and calculated, urgent even. As if he had to so something that depended on whether he would hurry up or not. I could feel the footsteps getting closer, the one blinking light bulb at the end seeming far far away. He was beside me. I couldn't tell whether he wanted to hurt me or not. Without wasting a second I kicked him and he stumbled back which gave me time to run.

I fell to the ground as he pounced at me from behind. The first instinct I had was to scream, so I did. "Help! Someone help me! Someone-" His hand instantly blocked my mouth from saying anything else. I bit it and he let go. "Help! Help-" He blocked my mouth again. He was much heavier than me so I couldn't push him off me.

" Shut up girl I'm not trying to hurt you." He said in a low voice. He then removed something from his pocket, an envelope, and dropped it in front of me. " Don't open it till you get home. Don't tell anyone." He said and got off me. He then went back to the other side leaving me there in shock. I stood up and dusted myself off.

Were the five words written on the top. I really wanted to open it, I ached to, but I had to wait. Not because of the strange man that gave it to me, but because I considered Jane, or whatever her name was, as a friend.
