Chapter 1
Kai’s POV:
I stepped into in front of the main school
campus and I was astounded.
I look back at me and say, " Look at this mom. How much money does the school get from the sponsors and school fees? "
My mother has been waiting for a moment like this. Not to kick me out of the house but to see me do amazing things at my age. Getting a scholarship is a thing she was hoping I would do since I was pushed out of the womb. Tutoring, extra-murals like debating and my sports at a young age made me an almost perfect age. But what didn't make the perfect child was my social anxiety and social awkwardness. I can barely talk to my life-long neighbors so what makes you think I'm going to a random stranger but anyways...
"Honey do you think you can get can to the office by yourself? I have to rush to the airport, I've got some blogs and articles to write. " My mother is a journalist/blogger, she writes about horrific effects that are currently happening. She's always writing and posts twice a week and homeschools me for most of the week. Since I've never been to an actual school, I don't have a lot of friends as you can tell but I do I have one. My best friend since birth Reid Stevens who I don't see a lot because he actually goes to this boarding school. this school is the most prestigious in the world. the children of the richest and famous go to this school. The most talented children go here. From the arts to science, the school that has it all. I got a scholarship to one of the best schools.
"Are you mom? I don't know... I-i c-could t-try. " I hesitantly. I've never talked a stranger without someone I know present. So lets just how it goes ... ( SPOILERS: it doesn't go well ! )
"You know I love and I just want to experience things and I would love for you try new things. Bye kai and I love you ." She says and kisses me on the cheek.
"I love you to Ma. "I mumbled and walked towards the front office.
The front office looks like one of those 5-star resorts receptions. It has a modern waiting area and a fountain across from it. The receptionist was loudly talking on the phone and looking at a computer typing away. She is a lovely looking woman in her mid 20's with a black bob and tan skin.
"look I told him that he needs to stop being a child- "
"Excuse me I'm sorry to disturb you- "I mumbled but she interrupted me.
"Honey let me come back to you. The cleaning offices on campus D, this is the student office ." She smiles at me.
"No, I'm a student here. My name is Kai Neveah Matthews, I'm seventeen years old. I have a full scholarship to this school." I say trying not to get angry.
"I'm pretty sure I would know if someone like you would be accepted to a school such as this ." She says. Okay this lady racist
"I would like it if you could search on the system to see if my name pops up," I said politely
"But that wouldn't be necessary." She says before a beautiful girl with short brunette hair and green hair comes towards the receptionist.
"Is there a problem Miss
Dankworth? " She asks
"No, just an imposter ." She says looking at me with a fake smile on her face.
"Really, because you see my parents, The Dina's, are on of the school's sponsors but it would be a shame if that school one of their most important sponsors all because of a receptionist ." She says nicely.
"If I was you I would give Miss... "
"Miss Matthews," I tell her.
"If I was you I would give Miss Matthews her schedule, guide and keys to her room otherwise you won't have a job ." Miss Dina continues
"Yes, Miss ." The receptionist says disgustingly.
She grudgingly gives me all the things.
"I don't hear,' have a nice day ' ", Miss Dina chimes in.
I take the items and turn to Miss Dina.
"You didn't have to do that, I was about to handle it," I say to her.
"No problem, I hate people like her anyways. My name is Amber Dina and I'm your new best friend." She says
I smile and say, " I'm Kai Matthews." I look down at the map to see where my room is.
"Could you direct me to Campus R, that seems to be where my room is. "
"Wow, sure. " She says
"Thank you."
We started walking straight towards the castle-like facility.
"So what company does your family own ."
"None, my mom is a journalist and my dad passed before I was born. " I say
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to...um ask that." She stumbles
"It's fine. If you're my best friend you were going to find out anyway, right? " I say
"Yeah." She mumbles
"I got a scholarship and I come from a middle-class family," I say
"Wow, you must be special." She says
"What do you mean? " I ask
"They put you in Campus R. That's for VIPs of the school. And by VIPs, I mean children of very important people. I mean I'm also situated in there but I'm not a snob. I'll introduce to some people who aren't snobs either. "
We walk into the building and towards the elevator.
"What floor?" She asks
" Floor 20 - top floor," I say
"Interesting, " She says
"What do you mean?" I ask
"I only know one person who lives on the top floor." She says
Really, strange that they only have this one person living on one floor. It sounds suspicious like the person lives there does some weird things up there.
Stop! You've been watching too many criminal shows, horrors, and thrillers. You need to stop.
The elevator doors open and we walk down the hall towards my door.
"You know they call this the Royalty suite and your room the princess suite, " She states.
"Why?" I inquire
"I'll tell you later, just know that your neighbor is a jerk ." She says, " He's the type of boy your parents warn you about once you start dating. He's the guy that every girl dreams but she knows he's too much to handle. He's known for dating multiple girls at a time. This one girl dated and rumor is she just did to write an article about how manipulative he is. She got her pants sued off but anyways. What I'm saying is stay away from him, even if he's your neighbor."
Okay, that's weird.
" I'll stay away from him..." I say, unsure as to why I must.
"Anyways, give me your phone so I can add my number ." She demands in a polite way
I give her my phone and the adds her phone number.
"Great, so I'll tell you where we're having dinner. Be ready at 6:30. Bye, see later " She says and walks away.
I walk into my room and close the door and I just knew that this was going to a whirlwind but
