Chapter 1

.... It’s been another dreadful night for us, humans. The giants were on a hunt for us and had already managed to bamboozle ten of our own men from the tribe, in fulfillment of their desire of a good dinner.Maybe they are planning for the elimination of humans from the globe so that they can rule it without any interference from us.

According to one of the wise men of the tribe, the giants are always thirsty for human flesh.

..sun has come out but not as it usually does, as if it was hinting something strange. Men from the tribe are chanting at our door while they wait for my father's availability to discuss the atrocious night that has just passed away. They don’t do this typically which show’s their apprehensiveness towards the fatal event.

My father is sitting inside in great stress from the responsibility of leading the tribe, sweat is dripping from his forehead although the temperature is quite cool, maybe they are as result of the pressure imposed from the night and the crowd outside. Possibly he will be thinking of what strategy to imply over the giant’s,whose men are becoming appetizers to the monsters. A man outside uttered with a raucous voice, "Arthuro! Where are you? Come outside and let's work out a solution for this problem before we go extinct."My father isn’t scared to face the crowd but maybe he is a little ashamed for the incident of the night and perhaps he needs some time to think over the whole situation and come up with a solution for it.

As his chant ends, the other tribes man started to hubbub. These chants compelled my father to the doorway and soon the sound of the opening door turns all chat of the crowd into a complete silence. While my father trying to content the anxious looking man,who had urged him to comeout one of the other man with grave voice claims, “if we do not challenged the giants, soon we all will be in their bellies and nothing will be left of us. They are taking our man down on daily basis and there’s nothing we are able to do about it”. This convinced everyone to believe that a war against these detrimental creatures is the only chance at of success and survival.

As soon my father started to speak the buzzing got lowered and the man became attentive towards my father. My father is a realistic man who doesn’t take decisions in emotions,he is a forbearer who remains patient in these kind of situation and have a greater understanding, which was the point that the wise one’s chose him as the leader of this tribe .he tells them that there is no chance for success in war with the giants, explaining that we are no match for them in numbers and power and war may lead to extinction of humans.Still chaos prevailed in the crowd which pressurised my father to take a decision and stated to the crowd that he himself will go to the ruins of giants and will try persuade and convince the leader of the giant’s to sign a charter with them for peaceful coexistence.

The men had now realised the truth that going against the giant will be an act of idiocy. They already knew this bitter truth but their state of depression and worry forced them to shout for a war. However They got much satisfaction from the claim of my father as he was a man of his words. They all agreed with the statement of their leader and gradually departed the place. My father comes back inside to inform my mother and myself about the situation and the decision he had just made outside infront of the whole tribe. On hearing I urged to my father that I will accompany him in his journey, explaining that I am no more a kid now but grownup man but he denied my statement and told me that this is an risk full journey, anything can happen at anytime, Its his responsibility to ensure the safety of this tribe and that he must not involve me in this.

I really got annoyed with my father’s statement as he still considered me as adolescent, who can’t take care of himself or cannot handle any tough situation, although i was in full bloom and wanted to prove my dad that i am as mature and plucky as him. But it will gain me no benefit now as I can’t go against my father’s will and as far as I am concerne,he will stay firm with his words.

After clearing everything to us he got up and started to assemble all the convenient things, which were to be needed for the journey. These included his sword which was given to him by his father, so that he may able to safeguard himself in any dangerous situation. Some food and small bottle of water for his survival and a canvas to spend the night with. After all the preparation he told me to get his horse for him from the stable which was about half a mile away from our house.I wore my shoes and maked my way towards the stable and was there in a quarter of hour, opened the gate unzipped the brown mount and maked my way back home. This was the only carthhorse in the village which was given to my father due to his leadership. As I reached home my father was out and was ready to leave. He gave a goodbye kiss to my mother and hugged me hard, whispering in my ears Take care of your mom son and remember i will always be with you,Leaving as if he was never going to return.
