The Particle

While he stood patiently above the unconscious body of Barry Allen in the medical facilities of S.T.A.R. Labs, Harrison Wells felt an overflow of emotions. He was stuck in the year 2015, that is decades before his existence was ever recorded. The Reverse Flash, or more commonly known as Harrison Wells, was in the process of returning to his original life in the year 2151. Harrison had traveled back in time to the year 2000 to kill Barry Allen also known as The Flash. The Flash and the Reverse Flash were enemies, opposites, rivals in the year 2151. The Reverse Flash finally found the Flash’s secret, his name. In his attempt to travel back in time to the year 2000, the Reverse Flash failed and was stuck in that parallel universe. The fight that took place that night of March 18th, 2000 in the Allen house was a night to change history. The Flash and Reverse Flash traveled fastly on a mission of their own that night. The Flash had to save his younger self while the Reverse Flash had to end him. The Flash saved himself that night, however the Reverse Flash killed Barry’s mother in his rage of failure. Wells couldn’t return to his time, so he was trapped that night in year 2000. Barry, who was only 11 years old when this happened, left Wells in a difficult position. Wells had to create the Flash to get back to his original timeline. The only way for him to get back to his time is to defeat The Flash, who hadn’t been created yet.

Fifteen years later, Wells was going to open a particle accelerator to Central City. The accelerator was designed to power Central City with clean energy. Only Wells knew that was going to go an entirely different direction. On the night that the particle accelerator went active, Wells sabotaged the accelerator to explode. The explosion killed many of the workers in S.T.A.R. Labs and paralyzed Harrison from the waist down. Harrison convinced the team that he was bereft of his ability to walk, but it was on the contrary. The explosion was his plan for that night, and so was convincing his team he couldn’t walk. His planned move was to spread the particles across Central City and affect Barry Allen to become the Flash, which worked. A storm cloud full of these particles struck lightning onto Barry. The lightning bolt put Barry in a coma that was unexplainable to the Central City hospital. Doctors scrutinized his condition but couldn’t stabilize Barry’s heart or find a solution to his problem. His family watched him go into cardiac arrest time and time again, but still no solution. Harrison waited through these fifteen years for the very moment of Barry’s coma. Wells promised Barry’s adopted father, Joe, that he could save Barry. The hospital didn’t understand Barry’s odd condition, but Harrison did. After taking him to S.T.A.R. Labs Barry woke up. At that moment, the entire city was changed.

Harrison Wells had to keep his real identity secret to the world. He couldn’t risk anyone knowing his manipulating endgame for Barry Allen. In the meantime he had to create the Flash. More people besides Barry were affected by the particle accelerator that night. The people affected by the accelerator were called metahumans. They were good and bad, but the bad had to be stopped. Harrison’s team consisted of himself, Cisco Ramon, and Caitlin Snow. Cisco and Caitlin both helped in the technical sides of the job. Harrison was the teacher smarter than science itself, and Barry was the Flash. Their mission was to stop the evil metahumans threatening Central City. The only thing wrong with that plan was that Barry couldn’t control his speed. Wells trained Barry every day to become faster and faster. After his training, Barry could control his power correctly and use it for the good of the city. The team was successfully putting away metahumans that harmed the city.

Barry’s obsession with his mother’s case was known by Harrison, and working with the police Wells knew it was a matter of time before Barry found his real identity. Harrison kept eyes on his team and their families since the day he met Barry to be prepared for the chaos that would come. Meanwhile, there was a fire in the top of one of the office buildings in Central City. Barry rushed to the building with the help of Cisco’s directions.

“Doctor Wells, the sprinklers aren’t working!”, Barry yelled into his earpiece.

“Just get everyone out.” Wells replied from the cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs. As Barry sped people out at the speed of sound, he realized he didn’t have enough time to safely remove everyone from the building.

“I can’t get them out!” Barry cried back.

“You’re going to have to make a vacuum Barry.” Wells replied. “Your arms are going to have to move at super speed to create a wind funnel that will suck the air out of the room.”

Barry rotated his arms as fast as he could and was failing. The speed only made it worse and the fire was antagonized by Barry.

“You have to move faster. I believe in you” Wells stated.

The lightning in Barry’s eyes sparked. Barry took a long breath and tried again. He rotated his arms at the fastest speed he had known. The fire was erased from the room. As Wells listened through the earpiece anxiously waiting, Barry saved the people.

“Did you save them Barry?” Wells asked

“I guess so.” Barry said nonchalantly already standing behind Wells.

“Barry why did you doubt yourself at the fire?” Wells asked.

“I was scared I wasn’t going to be able to save everyone.” said Barry.

“You are the only thing standing in the way of your limits Barry. You are the only thing standing in the way of your achievements. You are the only thing standing in the way of your ability. Barry, you can achieve anything if you believe in yourself.” Wells said with confidence.

The two went home for the night thinking about the exhilarating events that had just happened. Barry thought about the words Harrison had said during the fire. Wells had guided Barry through the exact steps to extinguish the fire. “The voice of Harrison in my ear is the only reason for those people being alive.” thought Barry. He had a weird feeling that Harrison had experienced that same feeling as he was. Wells had talked to Barry about the Reverse Flash before. Describing him as The Man in Yellow, and Barry’s ultimate foe. The fastest man alive, the opposite of the Flash. Barry had also thought about Wells’s private life since nobody knew what he did outside the lab. The night Barry’s mom was killed by Wells was a sequence of moments that Barry will never forget. He saw two people moving as two lighting bolts that night, going around each other at the speed of sound. The next moment he was standing outside his house. Barry had his suspicions of what or who was there that night. The moment he became the Flash he knew that it was his destiny to save his mom by defeating the Reverse Flash.

The next morning was just another day for all of the team. They met in the basement of the lab to talk about the daily plan. They had found a metahuman that could change his body into anyone he touches. “Everyman” was the name Cisco gave him. Everyman was stealing jewelry and selling it in the city. Barry and the team successfully captured him and locked him away in S.TA.R. Labs like the rest of the metahumans that cause harm in the city. Later that night, the team talked about the day and what will happen when they fill all the cells in the lab full of metahumans. The discussion was brief but the event that happened as soon as it ended shocked them all. The Reverse Flash appeared in front of them. He moved faster than Barry ever could, but wasn’t there to kill them.

“Barry Allen.” said the Reverse Flash in a distorted tone.

“What do you want?” Barry replied.

“I came to warn you. Stay away from your mother’s case, or I will kill the only family you have left.” the Reverse Flash stated in a dour tone.

While all four members of the team stared at the Man in Yellow, he disappeared.

Evtida: It was a very sweet story, but it felt rushed. It didn't really convey the emotions. For example, when the girl was kidnapped, instead of panicking, going crazy, and causing a scene, giving in felt strange... His exaggerated relationship with his gay friend was also odd in my opinion.
