"Congratulations to the following officers," Kai read aloud.

"Oh fuck, I feel like I'm gonna piss myself," Yoon huffed as he walked up tensely.

"Just tell me I didn't make it," Jae-ho cried from across the room.

"Shut up!" Eric snapped. He was just as nervous as everyone else if not more.

Kai nipped at this bottom lip as he traced his finger down the official pinned document looking for his name, he stopped, "Holy shit, Yoon hyung! Your name!"

"What?" Yoon jumped forward and looked at the the list in shock.

Kai continued down the list, "E-eric hyung!" He called.

Eric sprinted to the wall where the document was pinned. He placed his hands on Yoon's shoulders and pushed him downward so that he rested on top of him. He scanned the paper and his eyes widened at the sight of his full name.

"I did it!!" Eric laughed with relief.

Kai's heart was about to jump out of his chest. He worked way too fucking hard with training and studying to not get this. He felt like dying would be more satisfactory than not getting this chance. He wanted to be by his side, he wanted to protect the only person that truely mattered to him. He wanted to protect the president.

He traced his finger to the end of the list, his heart stopped, he dropped to the ground and stared at his lap. The older officers looked at their youngest on the floor and frowned at his devastated look.

"Hey Kai, it's ok, there's always next time," Jae-ho said, "I mean who knows when that will be but look at the bright side! You and I will continue to see each other everyday!"

Eric slapped his junior in the back of the head and he winced, "what the fuck, hyung?"

"Jae-ho, shut up," Eric rolled his eyes then looked at Kai's stiff figure, "Kai?"

Kai started, "I-..."

The rest sounded like a mumble to Eric, "Kai, don't get discouraged."

Kai kept making occasional noises but nothing of sense to his co-workers. They all knew that he wanted this just as bad as they all did, however they didn't know that he wanted it 10x more. They decided to let his disappointment sync in. Eric patted the younger's back before leaving the room. The other officers followed.

"I'm going to be with him," Kai whispered. His hands were shaking as his breath became unsteady, he couldn't believe that he was being promoted to the Blue House Secret Service.
