Twin Widows Christian Widows Union

""Twin Rivers Christian Widows Union" was absolutely heartwarming. I was charmed from the first sentence. It reminded me of a Christian version of the "Golden Girls," following the adventures of three elderly church ladies who are longtime friends. The author shows great creativity in the way she structures the story, writing 12 humorous sketches, one for each month of the year, while incorporating favorite recipes and Bible verses. Each sketch is short and can be enjoyed in a few minutes, and I can imagine the recipes hand written on old index cards. Far from antiquated and stuck up, the ladies of the Twin Rivers Christian Widows Union are a hoot! It's easy to mistake them for three college roommates, laughing at each other's antics while sharing jokes and adventures. It just goes to show you that girls of all ages just want to have fun. It's so refreshing to see the older generation of strong Christian women given humanity and a voice. I hope this book will make young whipersnappers look at elderly ladies in their churches with new eyes. "
