A new beginning

I woke up staring at the ceiling for a while, thinking about another ordinary day ahead of me. I stayed there just staring at oblivion until my alarm came off, marking the new and 'exciting' day ahead. I turned it off and just continued laying there, bored, don't have anything to do.

Not one exciting case even bothered to show up the entire summer. All there was are false paranormal activities or a lost dog, the things that the 'grownups' won't waste time on. They get all the fun stuffs like murders and homicides. I tried to convince my dad to let me work with them, since he is the mayor of Kingston, but you know what they say, I'm just a kid. So I take the boring stuffs just to pass time and because they still pay pretty well, I made a fortune just trying to find the rich lady's lost dog(maybe they do love their dog that much, but why whould they run off from their owner?). I miss having an adventure, the adrenaline pumping in my veins, and not wasting my talents on some neighbor's dog. I miss school where all the fun stuff are, stolen stuffs, cheating boyfriends, or even a suspicious suicide on the school premises, they sure do get my attention, and without the annoying interference of the 'grownups' I get the job done.

As you may already noticed by my unusual interest on homicides, murders, and mysteries, I am a detective, well I aspire to be. I have proved my talents on solving mysteries many times before, I use the infamous science of deduction by Sherlock Holmes (I'm a fan of him btw) and applied it practically in my everyday life. With my great interest in solving mysteries and the talents to effectively solve them, I have gain the reputation as the 'Young Sherlock' of Kingston. I also study Martial Arts, I've enrolled to multiple classes available, even creating my own mixed martial arts style. So I think I am more than just qualified to become an official detective working along side with the police. Unfortunately because of my young age I am often overlooked, so I just continued to be an unofficial private eye helping out people in my neighborhood (especially at school because that is where I move freely) pay or no pay. I can be a consulting detective like Sherlock, but the police won't even dare ssk for help even if they are way over their league. It's disappointing really. Anuways I am still really bored.

"Alex! Sweety! Get up! You don't want to be late for your first day of school!" Shouted my mother.

That's right! It's the first day of school! I immediately jumped off the bed, quickly took a shower, put on some clothes, and went downstairs. Jane, my younger sister, is eating her breakfast at the table while Mom is in the kitchen. Dad must be at work, he always goes there pretty early and goes home just in time for dinner.

"Goodmoring Alex!" Jane greeted me cheerfully with a big smile as I go downstairs.

Jane is the cutest and sweetest little girl you could possibly know, she loves to sing and dance, she is also has a blue belt in karate but she barely use it since she doesn't want to hurt people, she'll only use it when it's absolutely necessary. She also loves to help people.

"Goodmorning Jane. I see you're excited to go to school." I said

"I'm excited to meet new friends!" She said with enthusiasm.

"Well I'm sure you will meet great friends in school." My mom told Jane with a smile. You can easily tell where Jane got her sweet personality. My mom is the kindest mom you could ever have, she supports us in everything we do, especially with my detective stuffs. She is the best.

"You guys ready to go too school?" My mom asked.

"Yeahh!" Jane answered while I just nod with a smile.

"Ok then, off you two go." My mom gave Jane her lunch box while she handed me lunch money.

"No thanks, I still have a hundred bucks by finding Mrs. Richmond's dog, that woman is crazy generous." I said with a joking tone.

"Ok then, more for me" my mom joked.

I put on my hoodie, said our goodbyes, and off we are to school.

Kingston Academy isn't too far from home, maybe about a 10 minute walk give or take, so we usually just walk there. Jane and I shared conversations and jokes on the way. I missed this little moments where it's just us. It's usually our bonding moment everyday, but since we don't go to school in summer, we don't get to do this anymore, it's good to have it back, and I can see from Jane's enthusiasm that she missed it too.

We arrived at Kingston Academy an hour early and the school isn't that crowded yet. Jane went to her building waving a bye at me, while I went to mine. As I open the door, I felt like someone is sneaking behind me. I quickly went through the possibilities to determine who might possibly be sneaking behind me without giving up the idea that I am aware of that person's presence.

[I am in a public place, a school, so it would be a student or a teacher, anyone outside that would be very suspicious if you are sneaking up on students, it won't be a good sneak up plan, a teacher wouldn't go through the trouble of sneaking up on students, so a student it is. A student sneaking up on another student would just be playing a practical joke, suggesting that they are friends, so no harm will be done. A friend who likes to play jokes, this pops only one name in my head.] "Ronan" I said out loud. "You can come out of hiding now." There behind the bush came out my bestfriend, Ronan.

Ronan is one of the smartest guy in class. He is a gamer, owns the best and very expensive set up ever. He is also a talented hacker, his encryptions are impossible to crack, even an expert thought so. He is also a good friend, met him at elementary, we shared interest, comics, games and some other nerdy stuffs. He is also talented in playing the piano.

"Hey Alex." He said, "How'd you know I was there? Let me guess , with your 'powers'."

"Don't be absurd, they're not powers, I just observe."

"Well we are gonna put your 'observations' to use, I've quickly checked the school files and it looks like we will have new classmates, guess how many."

As we entered the room I looked around and gave my answer. "Four"

"How'd you know? Did you check the files as well? He asked

"Shot in the dark actually, and no, I didn't look at the files, I never mess around with that stuff, thats your job. I knew because of the chairs, Mrs. Roseann would definitely make some advance preparation around the class, she was always like that, and there were 4 extra chairs, so it seems logical to assume that we have 4 new classmates."

"O..K, so your job is to do your best to deduce something about them and I will grade you depending on your performance." He said.

"So assume you know something about them because you check their files and their social medias."

"Quite right." He confirmed

"Ok, game on." I said as I turned my game face on.
