White Blanket

Today we woke up,

to a revolution of snow.

Its white flag,

waving over everything.

The landscape vanished,

not a single mouse

to punctuate the blankness.

And beyond these windows,

the birds sing and soar,

bears and skunks buried,

the bugs lost under-

the white blanket.

The trials of deer covered,

the world around crumbling-

going dark.

I wish to see you,

one more time,

to tell you stories,

of my first,

everything,

to my last,

anything.

I wish,

you’d be at my

graduation,

wedding,

to see my children,

your great ,

grandchildren.

I wish,

I could get your advice,

but,

I can’t.

I’m a lost soul,

you’re gone.

A simple ghost,

in the white abliss,

a hunter,

who went away.

No more booms,

or whooshes,

of a bullet.

No more clangs,

of pins roaring.

No more endless conversations,

about anything,

and everything.

From small,

to big

issues,

to nothing at all.

The snow went away,

and the sun,

came back.

Yet you’re still gone.

Its been a year,

the blankets returned,

and the emptiness

of the cold,

is still here.

A year,

a year of sadness,

of learnin’,

n’ living

without you.

A year,

being lost,

with many more,

filled with emptiness

of a blank abliss,

to come.

A space,

that will remain,

empty,

forever,

because you’re gone.

So when the

white blanket

comes once

More,

I’ll remember,

you,

more than ever before.

As always, I hope you enjoyed this. Don’t forget to follow my Instagram: Musiclover13980_Wattpad (for sneak peaks), and my Wattpad and Archive of Our Own: Musiclover13980.

I couldn't figure our how to write the stanzas on Inkitt, so the origional version is on Wattpad.
