*They had everything planned for the future but they donโ€™t know fate has whatโ€™s planned for them*

The year โ€˜1800โ€™

It was freezing cold at night when Andreas pulled his little sister out for a mission. She groaned, tired of his games. This was the fifth time in the day they will be time traveling. Ever since their parents died, Andreas has always been focused on dark magic and how he could have it all to himself. He was consumed and there was nothing his sixteen years old sister could do about it.

โ€œCome, Anne, we have a place to be.โ€ He persuaded. He knew he couldnโ€™t do without her. He needed her powers to time travel.

โ€œWhere are we going, Andreas?โ€ She asks.

โ€œWe are going to the future.โ€

*******

Now

It was the best time of the year for Victoria. She had just finished high school in the year 2020. She looked over her phone looking at the pictures her friend, Lilly and she took today at the graduation ceremony. She smiled at the funny pictures as she scrolls. She couldnโ€™t wait to get into college. The best part was her best friend Lilly also got accepted into the same college as hers. Sleep took over her consciousness before she knew.

It was 6:30 am in the morning when her alarm rang. She groaned in frustration as she remembered she hadnโ€™t reset her alarm. She shuts it and went back to sleep. Her mom barged in, removing the duvet over her.

โ€œMom.โ€ Victoria groaned, confused about why she did that.

โ€œYouโ€™re going to be late.โ€

โ€œFor what?โ€ Victoria asked, confused. She knew she had no plans today; she believed.

โ€œFor school, lazy brat.โ€ Her mom pulled her up.

โ€œWhat? I had my graduation yesterday, mom. Please donโ€™t play jokes with me.โ€ She stuffed her face into the pillow, getting back to sleep.

โ€œI think you had a weird dream. Itโ€™s your first day in senior year.โ€ She hit her on her buttocks.

โ€œWhat?โ€ She groans sitting up and looks at her phoneโ€™s date even though she thought it was weird falling for her momโ€™s games but it all struck her when she realized it was as she claimed. Itโ€™s the 5th of August. All the pictures she took with Lilly were gone. What the hell was going on; she thought.

********

Victoria looked confused as she walked down the hallway of Bremem high. If someone told her she was going to re-live her senior year again she would simply laugh it off and call it fiction but not for once has Victoria ever seen a fictional belief turn into reality. Time was playing games with her and this wasnโ€™t something sheโ€™d just laugh off to the wind. Just as she remembered on her first day was the same as now. It felt really weird for her as she still tries to take it all in. She saw Maria, a new student she met in the first year as she was been bullied by Nico, a very-tempered student. If she could recall, Maria was a very brilliant student, all nerdy and not just someone she would really associate herself with. She had Lilly. Lilly and she go a long way than five years friendship. They are childhood friends. Maria looked back at her with sadness as she picks up her fallen books. Victoria rushed over to her and assists her.

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry. Nico is the last person you should ever meet on your first day at school.โ€ This felt like deja vu.

โ€œThanks, Iโ€™m not new to this. I saw it coming.โ€ She mutters, standing up.

โ€œExcuse me?โ€ She looked confused.

โ€œYouโ€™d think Iโ€™m crazy anyway.โ€ She left Victoria muddled.

Victoria realized Lilly never showed up in school. She called her after school but she wasnโ€™t picking her calls so she decided to go to her house.

โ€œHello,โ€ she knocked but had no response. She entered her house after realizing it was unlocked.

โ€œLilly?โ€ She called several.

โ€œVic, is that you?โ€ She came out of her room, looking messed up.

โ€œVic, something is wrong.โ€ Lilly gave a perturbing look.

โ€œNo, something is wrong with you. Why do you look like that?โ€ Her eyes were all swollen like she had been crying. She was still even on her pajamas.

โ€œThis doesnโ€™t matter. My life is ruined. You wonโ€™t even understand.โ€ Lilly states.

โ€œTrust me, You wonโ€™t believe me if I told you mine.โ€ Victoria convinced.

โ€œIโ€™m having deja vu. Trust me I know it. Talon broke up with me on the fifth of August and this is fifth. How is this even possible? Yesterday was our graduation. This is crazy. Iโ€™m crazy.โ€ She falls on the floor, trying to take it all in.

โ€œNo, youโ€™re not, Lilly. This was why I came to you? Something is wrong with this town.โ€

***********

Owen was awakened by the loud sound of music coming from his living room. He groaned angrily, thinking his mom was probably in company with her friends.

โ€œMom, whatโ€™s going...โ€ Owen was surprised by the immense crowd.

โ€œSurprise!โ€ The crowd yells and that got Owen perplexed.

โ€œOk, whatโ€™s going on here?โ€ He asks, confused about what the occasion is all about.

โ€œOh, Owen,โ€ His mom hugs him.

โ€œYou keep forgetting your birthday. My baby is now eighteen.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s today?โ€ Owen asked, clarifying if he wasnโ€™t crazy because he was sure something was weird.

โ€œSixth of august. Your birthday, silly.โ€

โ€œThis has to be a joke.โ€

******

โ€œThis is no joke, Lilly. Someone is messing with time. I donโ€™t know why we are the only ones who are aware of this or there are probably other people out there that knows.โ€ Victoria feels disturbed.

โ€œVic, I think youโ€™re thinking too much about this weird thing going on. I....canโ€™t wait to see the part where our English teacher pees on his pants.โ€ Lilly says excitedly and heads over for class leaving Victoria behind.

โ€œReally, Lilly.โ€ Victoria looks surprised about Lilly being bothered about some stupid joke played on a teacher.

*******

โ€œSo, as I said earlier, dentition deals on the numbers and arrangement and conformation of teeth in an organism. Can anyone tell us about types of dentition? Anyone?โ€ Mrs. Rachael, our biology teacher asks as she scans through everyoneโ€™s faces.

โ€œOwen, would you like to share with us on what you know?โ€ She asks, noticing he wasnโ€™t concentrating.

โ€œShit, I donโ€™t have time for this again.โ€ He mutters but Mrs. Rachael clearly heard him.

โ€œExcuse me.โ€

He shook his head fed up with her persuasion.

โ€œWhy the hell should I be bothered about some stupid teeth when clearly the world is already turned upside down. Iโ€™m out of here.โ€ He carries his bag and leaves class.

โ€œOwen get back here!โ€ Mrs. Rachael calls but he was gone.

โ€œLilly, Lilly did you hear that?โ€ Victoria alerts Lilly but sheโ€™s focused on her nails.

โ€œYes I heard, Owen get back here,โ€ She rants. โ€œAs a matter of fact, I donโ€™t think I have time for this either.โ€

โ€œGosh, Lilly, get your head straight. What Iโ€™m trying to say is, Owen knows about it. Time traveling, silly.โ€ Victoria explains.

โ€œOh, shit. Letโ€™s go meet him. Maybe he knows how to get us all out of this.โ€

โ€œWell, thatโ€™s what I was explaining,โ€ Victoria says.

Victoria and Lilly head over at Owenโ€™s house. If Victoria ever thought sheโ€™d be going after some popular kid at school, especially Owen she would think itโ€™s all a dream because they were never close one bit. Victoria has never been in a long relationship and she never planned for that in senior year. A little changed that happened to her now was time just changed her super boring life. She parked her car as soon as she reached Owen place and they both alighted. She had also been having a slight feeling of someone or something keeping a close watch of them. She was just having a normal feeling every person had when they feel they are being watched.

โ€œLilly, I feel like someone watching us. Do you too?โ€ Victoria feels disturbed.

โ€œI donโ€™t know. Iโ€™ve been on my phone. And I think youโ€™re taking this too serious than I am.โ€ Lilly rolls her eyes.

Victoria shook her head in disbelief that Lilly doesnโ€™t look bothered at all.

They rang the bell at Owenโ€™s door severally until he answered.

โ€œWhy have you guys been following me around? Are you part of some stupid gossip club or what?โ€ Owen says, feeling irritated. He had noticed them since he left school but Owen never thought of the fact that this incident never took place before. He was just so frustrated by the fact that he had re-live senior year again.

โ€œUmm...I...โ€ Lilly looks astounded at his naked chest. One thing about Lilly is that she falls too easily. That was how Talon got to her and dumped her afterward after getting what he wanted. That was one other reason Victoria never saw the need to be in a relationship. She didnโ€™t want the same fate as her friend.

โ€œWe know you know. Actually, we know somethingโ€™s wrong with time.โ€ Victoria briefs.

โ€œWait, you guys are on this too. Gosh, I thought I was the only dumb person here.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not like weโ€™re dumb or something,โ€ Victoria mutters as he gestures them in.

*******

โ€œIโ€™m alone. You donโ€™t have to bother.โ€ Owen assures Victoria as she looked around.

โ€œOh, youโ€™re alone...โ€ Lilly felt happy like it was going to turn out great between them expect Victoria wasnโ€™t falling for his charming look.

โ€œYeah,โ€ He reassures. โ€œSo, you guys said you knew something was wrong. Have you figured it out?โ€ He questions.

โ€œUmm, actually we havenโ€™t,โ€ Victoria replies with a low tone.

โ€œSo, this is useless.โ€ Owen felt it was all worthless.

โ€œWell...um..โ€ The doorbell distracted Victoria and the others.

โ€œAre you expecting anyone?โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œI was going to ask you if brought a friend along?โ€ Owen replies.

โ€œNo...โ€ Victoria says, wondering who it could be since he wasnโ€™t expecting anyone.

Owen goes to check whoโ€™s at the door.

โ€œHi,โ€ A girl about his age, holding a big weird book under her arm says.

โ€œUmm...do I know you?โ€ Owen asks.

โ€œMaria?โ€ Victoria looked surprised and confused to see her.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œI guess you were right about someone following you,โ€ Lilly says.

โ€œIโ€™m here because of the same reason you are,โ€ Maria says.

โ€œNow, this will be a group or something,โ€ Owen says irritatingly.

โ€œOkay, this is getting weird. How did you even know that we know? Are you a witch or something.โ€

โ€œUmm, yes but I overheard you guys talking in class.โ€ Maria answers.

โ€œOkay so, I have a witch in my house. Thatโ€™s ...thatโ€™s great.โ€ Owen feels disturbed by her presence.

โ€œThis is a lot to take in.โ€ Victoria feels disarranged.

โ€œVictoria, we all have potentials, I think thatโ€™s why we are connected or something. I never really believed in magic or something until I saw this book. My grandma had it with her over the years. Said it was for a friend but they had departed after high school and never met afterward. We all are magic.โ€

โ€œAre you saying we have powers like you,โ€ Owen asks, terrified.

โ€œNot just that, elemental powers. Have you noticed anything weird lately.โ€ Maria asks.

They all pondered about it until Owen broke the silence.

โ€œThe tap in the kitchen acts weird most of the time and that was even before all these shit started. And it happens in the bathroom at times. The water acts strange but I donโ€™t know how it connects to this.โ€ Owen says.

โ€œYouโ€™re water. Your elemental power is water.โ€ Maria replies.

โ€œWell, a fire came out of my butt from nowhere. I guess thatโ€™s something.โ€ Victoria says.

โ€œObviously, Fire element.โ€ Maria nods.

They all turned and looked over at Lilly, waiting for her to speak and it felt weird for her.

โ€œWell, Iโ€™ve got nothing,โ€ Lilly said breaking the silence.

โ€œThere has to be something weird, Lilly. Think.โ€ Victoria persuades.

โ€œEvery day of my life is weird, Vic. Talon left, My mom left saying I was extra baggage, and dad left me. Every day of my life is so weird!โ€

โ€œLilly, Lilly, Lilly!โ€ Victoria called for her attention.

โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œI think youโ€™re earth.โ€

โ€œAnd...how did you know that?โ€ She asks confusingly.

โ€œBecause you just turned the cup of coffee in your hands into mud,โ€ Victoria says.

Lilly looks at the cup surprised.

โ€œOh.โ€

โ€œI guess since this is all sorted out.... We know our elements. Iโ€™m air. We should get to the major deal.โ€

โ€œWhy we are brought back to this time.โ€ Victoria completed.

************

Victoria and her mom go over to see her grandma if she was doing fine. Grandma Kira has been blind for years but she still, had her ways of doing things.

โ€œOh, my darlings are here.โ€ The old lady was happy as she felt their presence.

โ€œFinally mom, are you happy now?โ€ Victoriaโ€™s mom, Jenny hugs her and gives her a light kiss on her forehead.

โ€œI missed you, Jenny.โ€ Grandma smiles.

โ€œAt least I always begged you to stay at my place but you never agree.โ€ Jenny cups her cheeks.

โ€œJenny, there are some things you canโ€™t understand.โ€

โ€œMom, please donโ€™t wash all those superstitious believes over my daughter.โ€ Jenny wasnโ€™t ready to hear her old stories about her being a hero.

โ€œIโ€™m not too old to spank you, Jenny, you gab a lot.โ€ Grandma shook her head.

โ€œOkay, fine. Iโ€™ll leave you guys to whatever it is. Vic, Iโ€™ll be in watering the gardens.โ€ Jenny told her daughter.

โ€œOkay, mom.โ€ She answers.

โ€œSo, you donโ€™t know how to hug your grandma anymore, is that it?โ€ Grandma speaks.

โ€œGrandma! You and mom were having a good time. Didnโ€™t want to ruin the moment.โ€

โ€œAlright, alright.โ€ Grandma feels disturbed as Victoria hugs her. She felt something different.

โ€œWhat is it, grandma?โ€

โ€œVic my dear, youโ€™re different.โ€ Grandma Kira felt disturbed by the force coming right through her.

โ€œI donโ€™t understand, grandma.โ€

โ€œI mean you have discovered your powers. I can feel it. The heat.โ€ Grandma says, happily.

โ€œHow..how did you know that?โ€ Victoria looked surprised. One thing Victoria knew was that Time changed everything. The time she and her mom came over to see her, none of these happened. Her Grandma never spoke of anything as such.

Grandma Kira stretches forth her hand making a fireball to convince her.

โ€œThatโ€™s because Iโ€™m just like you.โ€

โ€œWow, does Mom know?โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œDidnโ€™t want to involve her in magic. Itโ€™s too dangerous.โ€ Her Grandma fearfully recalls the last time she used Magic.

โ€œIs that the reason you lost your eyes?โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œYes. Saving the world cost me my eyes but I donโ€™t regret it. I just want both of you to be safe but now that you have discovered your power this means something big is coming. Follow me, I need to show you something.โ€

I followed my grandma to her room as she said. She opened her drawers pulling out a small box. She brought out a necklace that had a big ball on it. I wondered what the shinning thing could mean.

โ€œWhatโ€™s that, grandma?โ€ I was so eager to know what it meant.

โ€œItโ€™s not just a necklace, Vic. It does many things. You need to keep it safe. It will guide you into whatever task or mission and also protect you but you need its book to activate it. I lost it.โ€

โ€œSo, itโ€™s useless then.โ€ Victoria feels disheartened.

โ€œWhat is lost doesnโ€™t mean it canโ€™t be found, silly. You need to find it. Promise me you will.โ€

โ€œI promise.โ€

***********

Victoria and the others planned to meet after classes were over but what confused Victoria was the new student coming in the third week.

โ€œAndrey, would you mind introducing yourself to the class.โ€ Mrs. Rachael says.

He adjusted his glasses, looking back up.

โ€œI actually donโ€™t have anything to say.โ€ He replied.

โ€œOh, you must be shy Andrey. Go take a seat.โ€ Mrs. Rachael gestured.

He sat at the back of victoria but she couldnโ€™t stop looking at him. Something felt off. Andrey actually said these same words but he came in the first week, not the third week. Victoria decided to keep a close watch of him.

โ€œHey,โ€ Victoria approached him as he tried opening his locker but he was finding it difficult.

โ€œLet me help,โ€ she assists. โ€œWhy do you act as youโ€™ve never used a locker?โ€ She scoffs.

โ€œI donโ€™t know how to use it.โ€ His eyes go over to the necklace on her neck.

โ€œWhere did you get that?โ€ He asked, looking serious.

โ€œUh..itโ€™s mine.โ€

โ€œYours? Itโ€™s beautiful. Can I touch it?โ€

โ€œVic, have been looking everywhere for you. I just donโ€™t know how to control this stupid power. I keep ruining everything I touch.โ€ Lilly said, but it was too late to stop her from talking.

โ€œLilly!โ€ I grabbed her hands, leaving Andrey. She really needs to watch what she says.

**********

They all agreed to meet in the woods, so they could practice more without destroying anything. Victoria and Lilly were already practicing before the others came.

โ€œLilly, Breathe in and breathe out.โ€

Lilly did as she told.

โ€œNow, feel like you are running away from something scary.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t think thatโ€™s a good idea, Vic.โ€

โ€œJust do it.โ€ Victoria persuades.

โ€œOkay, I hate clowns. They are scary.โ€ Lilly says, irritated by the thought of it.

Vic shook her head, disappointed in her fears.

โ€œDo you wish to kill it?โ€

โ€œMore than you can imagine.โ€

โ€œThen do it.โ€

Lilly closed her eyes, feeling every urge to kill her fears, which made everywhere to start shaking.

โ€œI still want to live so please stop the whole thing,โ€ Owen said as he tried to balance himself from the force she created.

Victoriaโ€™s necklace glowed as they all gathered together.

โ€œWhatโ€™s that?โ€ Owen asks as he noticed it glow.

โ€œMy grandma gave it to me. Said it was really important?โ€ She replied.

โ€œBut I donโ€™t know why itโ€™s glowing.โ€ I look around finding what could have attracted it. It glowed more as Maria came closer to touch it.

โ€œIt magical,โ€ Maria says, astound.

โ€œWait a minute.โ€ Victoria pulls it off and puts it on the book. The book fell off Mariaโ€™s hands as it began to flip pages and then stopped.

Victoria picked the book up and read what was in it.

โ€œOnly the chosen can yield the sword of truth.โ€

โ€œWhich sword?โ€ They all asked but I remembered when my Grandma told me the thing on the necklace could do many things. I removed it from the book and it changed into a sword blazing with fire immediately I touched it.

โ€œWow.โ€ Owen and the others looked shocked.

โ€œGuys,โ€ I say, excitedly but before I knew I couldnโ€™t move for a minute as I was locked in a reverie.

I hear a young girl crying, begging for help.

โ€œHelp me!โ€ She wailed the more. I heard chains rattle as I come closer. It was all dark and I was getting close to the dungeon. I opened the door and saw a young girl. She was almost my age.

I wasnโ€™t sure if she could see me. But as I got closer, she grabbed my hands and called my name.

โ€œVictoria.โ€

I looked surprised as she knew my name.

โ€œHow did...โ€

โ€œYou shouldnโ€™t be here. Heโ€™s coming.โ€ She warns.

โ€œWho?โ€ I ask.

โ€œGo, Get out of my head!โ€ And before I knew it I was back to my conscious state.

โ€œShe needs help.โ€ Was the first thing I said as I was awake.

โ€œNo, you need help. You were gone for almost an hour.โ€ Lilly said, checking my temperature.

โ€œMaria has been trying to bring you back,โ€ Lilly says. I realized I was now in Lillyโ€™s room.

โ€œOh, youโ€™re awake,โ€ Maria says, relieved as she enters the room.

โ€œI need to tell you guys something.โ€

โ€œI also need to tell you something, Vic,โ€ Maria says. โ€œI realize the book is yours, not mine. So you have it.โ€ Maria returns it back.

โ€œNo...It doesnโ€™t matter who owns it. We all do. We are in this together and you even know much more and youโ€™re the only option to teaching us how to use it better.โ€

โ€œThanks.โ€ Maria hugs her.

โ€œYou said you wanted to say something.โ€ Maria reminds her.

โ€œRight, someone needs saving.โ€

**********

โ€œDid you find anything, overnight?โ€ Victoria asks Maria before class started.

โ€œNothing, Vic. But Iโ€™ll keep trying.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s alright. Weโ€™ll figure something out.โ€ Victoria assured her. Maria nods and smiles.

โ€œVictoria, your necklace is glowing.โ€ Maria panicked.

โ€œI donโ€™t know how to stop it.โ€ Victoria felt confused.

โ€œLet me do something,โ€ โ€œQuisque frigidus!โ€ She mutters.

โ€œYou made everyone freeze?โ€ Victoria looked confused.

โ€œYeah, to figure how to stop it from glowing.โ€ She says.

โ€œWhat are you trying to stop from glowing?โ€ Andrey answers.

โ€œWait, youโ€™re meant to have frozen like the others. Manet adhuc.โ€ Maria chanted some words on him but it wonโ€™t work on him.

โ€œDormientibus.โ€ Maria chants but nothing still works on him.

โ€œWhat are you?โ€ Maria questions.

โ€œThe same as you. Youโ€™re not the only person with powers. You are just a learner by the way.โ€ He walks closer to them.

โ€œStay back,โ€ Victoria warns.

โ€œRelax, I mean no harm. I never planned on using my powers, especially in school.โ€

โ€œWhat do mean by โ€˜especially in schoolโ€™,โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œMy parents grounded me from using magic. You know how parents can be and I think I know why your necklace was glowing.โ€ Andrey speaks.

โ€œWhy?โ€ Victoria questioned.

โ€œBecause of me obviously. Iโ€™m new to this town. I guess it never felt this type of power. That explains it.โ€ He says.

โ€œWhat happened here?โ€ Owen came in, shocked.

โ€œHow come the whole school is frozen,โ€ Lilly barges in with Owen. โ€œExcept this guy I guess. How come he isnโ€™t?โ€ Lilly wonders.

โ€œLong story.โ€ Maria and Victoria answered.

**************

After class, Andrey took them over to his house.

โ€œWhy do your parents live in an old house like this,โ€ Owen asks, looking around.

โ€œThey like old fashion.โ€ He replies.

โ€œOh, that explains it. Are they home?โ€

โ€œThey traveled,โ€ Andrey answered, getting uncomfortable with his questions.

โ€œThey went to see some old relatives in the next town,โ€ Andrey explains.

โ€œOh, right,โ€ Owen says looking around.

โ€œAndrey, did you notice anything unusual before coming to this town or when you arrived?โ€ Victoria asks him.

โ€œNo, nothing unusual.โ€ He replies.

Victoria still didnโ€™t believe him. She felt he knew something he didnโ€™t want to disclose. Maria wasnโ€™t really buying the whole idea of him joining the clique but she thought he would be useful since he knows much more.

โ€œDo you know anything about time traveling, Andrey,โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œYes, of course.โ€

โ€œHave you seen one with such abilities.โ€

โ€œNo, there are rare. Iโ€™m not even sure they exist.โ€

โ€œI believe they do,โ€ Victoria says.

โ€œAnd why do you?โ€

โ€œBecause thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m in this position.โ€

โ€œVictoria,โ€ Maria calls.

โ€œWhat?โ€ I answer her as she pulls me to the side.

โ€œSomeone else is here,โ€ Maria whispers.

โ€œHe said his parents traveled,โ€ Victoria says.

โ€œWell, heโ€™s lying.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ll figure out to distract him but not today. He might notice.โ€ Victoria suggests.

โ€œOkay, fine. Iโ€™m just gonna calm down because you said so. Something about him doesnโ€™t feel right.โ€

โ€œAre you girls done gossiping so we can start training? You guys have a lot to learn.โ€ Andrey says while sitting on his arm chair.

************

โ€œDo you think heโ€™s gone?โ€ Victoria asks Maria for the third time as they came back in the day to sneak into Andreyโ€™s house.

โ€œTrust me, he is. And I know he has gone to sneak up on us too. The clone I made for us wonโ€™t hold up much longer so letโ€™s get to it.โ€ Maria says, trying to open his door but it was apparently unlocked.

โ€œThat is so weird.โ€ Maria looked surprised to see the โ€˜intelligentโ€™ Andrey leave his door open.

โ€œMaria, wait! Something doesnโ€™t feel right.โ€ Victoria stops Maria from stepping inside until she clears her doubts.

โ€œHang on.โ€ Victoria picks a stone outside and throws it over into Andreyโ€™s house and it broke into pieces.

โ€œI guess this is why he left his door unlocked. Smart choice.โ€ Maria doesnโ€™t feel amazed.

โ€œThere are wards all over this place,โ€ Victoria says.

โ€œI guess he knew one of us would want to think of coming here,โ€ Maria says.

โ€œDo you know how to break this?โ€ Victoria asks.

โ€œHeโ€™s not the only one with tricks.โ€ Maria forms a triangle with her two index fingers and does the same with her thumbs, interlocking the other three fingers in the middle.

โ€œFrangere custodiarum.โ€ She mumbled.

โ€œDone.โ€ She smirks.

They both got in, checking every spot where Andrey could have hidden something.

โ€œThe voice came from this wall.โ€ Maria shows Victoria the spot where the voice came from but there were no doors.

โ€œMaria, itโ€™s a door. We canโ€™t just see it.โ€ Victoria said as she pushed the supposed wall and it opened.

โ€œWow.โ€ Maria looked surprised as they both walked in. Victoriaโ€™s amulet began to glow.

โ€œI think we are getting closer,โ€ Victoria says as she noticed it glow. As they walked further, Victoria realizes it looked just the same as the vision she saw days ago.

โ€œVictoria.โ€ A voice called as they reached the dungeon.

We entered and saw a girl chained up. She was pale and weak. She looked like she had barely eaten.

โ€œIt was you,โ€ Victoria says as she saw the same girl in her vision.

โ€œHave you guys met before?โ€ Maria asks Victoria.

โ€œShe was the girl I saw in my vision.โ€

โ€œYou both shouldnโ€™t have come here.โ€ The girl sounded scared.

โ€œYou need to leave.โ€ She tells them.

โ€œWe canโ€™t leave you here,โ€ Maria says, trying to find a way to free her from the chains but it wasnโ€™t an ordinary chain.

โ€œThereโ€™s no point, Maria. Iโ€™ve served my purpose. Itโ€™s time you did yours.โ€ She says.

โ€œWait, how did you even know our name?โ€ Victoria asks, confused.

โ€œBecause I was the one that chose the four of you.โ€

โ€œThe four of us?โ€ Maria and Victoria still looked perplexed.

โ€œIโ€™m a time traveler.โ€

โ€œI thought they were extinct,โ€ Maria says, surprised.

โ€œIโ€™m the last of my kind. Thatโ€™s why my brother is using me.โ€

โ€œWait, Andrey is your brother?โ€ Victoria looked surprised and confused.

โ€œNo, Andreas. His name is Andreas. Donโ€™t believe whatever he says. Heโ€™s not who you think he is.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€ Victoria questions.

โ€œI timed traveled because I saw the great damage Andreas had done on the day of your graduation. He unleashed the demon portal. He deceived me. All he ever wanted to have was more power.โ€ Anne felt sad seeing how bad he had become.

โ€œWhy would he unleash a demon portal to gain access to more power?โ€ Maria asks her.

โ€œBecause only then can he become a God.โ€

They both looked terrified as they heard Andreasโ€™s plans.

โ€œYou sent us to stop him,โ€ Victoria says, realizing why everything happened.

โ€œYou have to stop him before he stops you. You four are his resistance. Please tell that big book is safe with you.โ€

โ€œI left it with Lilly. Oh my God,โ€ Victoria realizes why Andreas had left his house.

***********

โ€œLilly, Lilly,โ€ Victoria calls Lilly who was already fast asleep. They had rushed over to check up Lilly, hoping he hadnโ€™t gotten to her but seeing Lilly was looking okay, Victoria felt a little relieved. Annie decided to come along with them, hoping they could make things right before it was too late.

โ€œWhat?โ€ Lilly groaned, clutching unto the pillow close to her.

โ€œThe book is still with you right?โ€ Victoria asks her.

โ€œYeah, I put in my closet.โ€ Lilly stands up, to check for it.

โ€œOh, yeah, I forgot. Andreas was here to get it. He said you asked him to work on some spell.โ€ Lilly hits her head after remembering.

โ€œLilly, no! I didnโ€™t.โ€ Victoria feels disturbed and confused about what to do at the moment. A vision flashes to her and it made her terrified. She saw herself kill Maria.

โ€œAre you okay?โ€ Lilly asks her.

โ€œY..yeah, Iโ€™m fine.โ€ Victoria sits on the bed, trying to take it all in.

โ€œWhy does he even needs the book?โ€ Maria asks Anne who was getting worried about the situation.

โ€œThe book is the only thing that could open the portal. This is one of the reasons why Andreas came to the future and everything is going to take place in your school.โ€

โ€œWhat does our school have to do with this?โ€ Victoria wondered.

โ€œBecause thatโ€™s the portal. In 1800 before now, the place was a lake so it was very difficult for him to get to it.โ€

โ€œIt all makes sense now,โ€ Maria says.

โ€œWe all need to go there right now. Let me call Owen to meet us.โ€ Victoria dialed Owenโ€™s number.

โ€œHello, Owen are you there?โ€ Victoria awaits his voice.

โ€œVic, what is it?โ€ He stammers.

โ€œMeet us at school. Andreas is trying to open the portal tonight.โ€

โ€œO..okay, Iโ€™ll be there.โ€ Andreas hangs the call.

โ€œYou did very well, Owen,โ€ Andreas smirks as he sees Owen struggling out of the chains he put all over him. Owen had also been having a weird feeling about him since he noticed him come out from Lillyโ€™s house with the spell book when he was heading out to the groceries.

โ€œYou wonโ€™t get away with this. Theyโ€™re coming for you.โ€ Owen assures him.

โ€œOh, let them come. It would have been too late. Enjoy the show.โ€ Andreas says as he slit his wrist and circles his blood at the spot where the portal is to be open. He mumbles some chants from the book, and the portal begins to open slowly.

โ€œFrom my blood, I bring you out from your darkened fortress. Your new master has risen and you will hail at my command...It is...โ€

Maria uses her powers to bring the book to her and lets out a smirk.

โ€œSorry, I ruined your party.โ€

โ€œOh, youโ€™d be sorry,โ€ Andreas said, getting out of the circle he created with his blood.

โ€œWe wonโ€™t. Cause I brought friends.โ€

Lilly comes forward and covers his whole body with mud, making him unable to move.

โ€œI guess youโ€™re my clown.โ€ Lilly frowns her face.

โ€œAt least that will take a little time to stop him,โ€ Lilly said as she gets Owen out of his chains.

โ€œAt least someone noticed me.โ€ Owen rolls his eyes.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry cupcake. Iโ€™m your hero.โ€ Lilly smiles and Owen rolls his eyes again.

โ€œDo you think you little things can stop me?โ€ Andreas says, trying to get himself out of it.

โ€œYes, they can stop you, Andreas.โ€ Anne shows herself to Andreas and it only made his anger aggravate.

โ€œIt was you? I knew something was off when I got here. You are the one that ruined everything!โ€ Andreas breaks Lillyโ€™s powers off him, sets out to kill his sister.

โ€œYou have to go through me first.โ€ Victoria brings out the sword of truth.

โ€œThe sword of truth.โ€ Andreas looked surprised to see it in her hands.

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m going to use to kill you.โ€ Victoria attacks him.

โ€œNot ever.โ€

โ€œFac ut ego imperio tu puer de terra.โ€ He chants.

โ€œI...canโ€™t. I canโ€™t move.โ€ Victoria tries to move but it was effortless.

โ€œYou will do anything I say now. Kill her.โ€

โ€œPlease donโ€™t.โ€ Anne looked terrified.

โ€œI canโ€™t control it.โ€

โ€œYes, you can. His powers donโ€™t beat what you possess. Fight it.โ€ Anne encourages.

โ€œStop wasting your time Anne,โ€ Andreas says but gets distracted by a swoosh that makes him hits his head against the wall. Maria does it repeatedly.

โ€œThatโ€™s enough!โ€ He gets a grip of himself and chants.

โ€œTussis ex sanguine donec mori.โ€

Maria falls over at her knees and coughs out blood. He grabs the book from her and continues to chants.

โ€œI...I canโ€™t breathe.โ€ Maria struggles.

โ€œNow kill her!โ€ Andreas says to Victoria who was still trying to fight it.

โ€œNot today,โ€ Victoria says as her eyes caught flames, attacking him at full strength which made him lose his balance.

โ€œMaria, Maria. Stay with me.โ€ Victoria tries everything to make her stay alive. Lilly and Owen distract him using their powers on him.

โ€œVictoria, do something. Heโ€™s too strong.โ€ Owen calls on her.

โ€œHe has done enough harm.โ€ Victoria holds her sword tight and thrust him with it.โ€

Andreas still laughs as he coughs out blood.

โ€œYouโ€™re too late, sweetie.โ€

Victoria turns back to see that the portal has been opened.

โ€œShit.โ€ She cursed, confused about what to do as the demons freely came out of the portal.

Maria flips the pages of the book and continues to chant want Andreas started.

โ€œMaria, what are you doing?โ€ Victoria tries to stop her.

โ€œThis is the only solution, Vic. Only you can yield the sword. So you have to kill me as I possess these demons.โ€

โ€œAre you crazy? Weโ€™ll figure something else.โ€ she tries convincing her.

โ€œVic, Iโ€™m still going to die anyways. Iโ€™m cursed. Please, you have to do this. The world is on you now.โ€

โ€œBut...โ€ Victoria wishes it didnโ€™t have to be this way.

โ€œVic, you need to listen to her. Itโ€™s for the best.โ€ Anne consoles her.

โ€œFor the best.โ€ Lilly and Owen say as Maria chants. The demons take possession of her as she finished the spell. Victoria still didnโ€™t want to it this way but she had no choice.

โ€œFor the best.โ€ Victoria thrust Maria with her sword, making Maria falls over the ground and dies. They all grieved her death. She died to save not only them but also the entire universe.

*******************

Victoria still couldnโ€™t accept the fact that Maria wouldnโ€™t be graduating with them. Victoria still re-call Maria taking pictures with friends and families on their graduation before time took its cause. She wished she never had to loose someone during this period. Though they were never friends in the first place but circumstances brought them closer. The little time they had spent together during those worst moments meant a lot to her. Destiny had its way of doing things; even Annie who had to watch her brother die in front of her. Deep down, she still loved him and will always cherish the best time they had together before he was consumed with magic. Anne promised herself never to expose herself to magic. She believes magic always comes with a price and it took the good side of her brother. She didnโ€™t also wish to go back. She was now staying with Lilly, trying to blend in since everything is different here. Lilly was the best option. Owen on the other hand, still couldnโ€™t stand his mom always monitoring him. He was spending time with us now, mostly, Lilly. Victoria guesses Lillyโ€™s dreams were coming true. She wouldnโ€™t stop ranting everything going on between them to her. Victoria had no time for that now. All that matters at the moment now to Victoria is to keep the world balanced from dark magic. Victoria knew the fight wasnโ€™t over. She and her friends were ready to be a resistance to whatever might come.

So that's the END.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
