Chapter 1

??

The girl put up more of a resistance than I had originally anticipated. I had chosen her at the begining of the night. Her bright blonde hair stood out in the crowd, and her flowy white dress caught my eye. She was going to be the one. I squeezed the vile in my pocket even tighter. I watched her sit down at the counter for a drink, and then I waited. Waited for an opportunity, and sure enough it came. I had planned this whole thing out meticulously, but this was the one part that I left up to chance. Her and her friends left to go to the bathroom. I don’t why girls always traveled in packs to the bathroom, but it made it easier for me, I walked up, ordered a drink, and while the bartender had his back turned I pulled out the vile, swiftly tipping it in the girls drink, and put it back in my pocket. It was one quick, fluid motion as I had practiced this many times prior, and it had gone perfectly.

The bartender turned back around, with my whiskey in hand. I paid for it in cash and walked back to my table where I ate my chips and guac until I saw the girls come back. The brunette looked more than a little drunk, but the blonde seemed to be holding up well. And so, I watched, and I waited. I was used to this. I had been through it countless times. I closed my eyes and got goosebumps on my arm remembering the sticky warm feeling of the blood pooling around me. A smile crept upon my face.

It was only about a half hour later when the girl and some of her other college friends got kicked out for being too drunk and unruly. I could see it coming. I made sure to leave a good ten minutes before this happened, so I would be gone before they got kicked out and I wouldn’t be grouped with them. I had been in enough bars to estimate when the manager would get fed up with the annoyance that was young, drunk patrons.

I headed out the door and leaned up against the cold brick wall, lighting a cigarette, and listening to the commotion inside. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before a bouncer was escorting multiple of the young students out into the cold winter night. Now the chaos had moved outside. There were people yelling, one guy was peeing in the snow while the girls around him were squealing with laughter. No one seemed to notice the man in the black jacket and jeans, smoking a cigarette, and watching.

The girl walked in front of me, obviously heading to her car even though she was in no condition to drive. She had drunk more than her fair share, and the date rape drug I had slipped into her drunk was proabably kicking in. She looked pissed off at someone. My guess was that the charming fellow peeing his name into the snow was probably her boyfriend.

Gently, I placed my hand on her shoulder.

“Hey,’ I said. “Are you planning on driving tonight? I don’t think you’re in any condition,” I said. Which was the truth. She truly wasn’t. Partly thanks to me.

“Eff off it is none of your business. I have pepper spray, don’t make me use it,” she replied, turning around to face me.

“Well, I am an off duty cop, and I would hate to have to turn you in,”. I said. I watched as the blood drained from her face. Probably because she wasn’t of age.

“How about this. I don’t want to get you in trouble any more than you want to be in trouble. So, I can either drive you home, or I can arrest you and drive you to a jail cell, because you don’t look 21 to me,”

“Oh yeah, prove it,’ she said, and I could tell that the doubt that I was a legitimate cop was seeping in. Fortunately for me, I was prepared. I pulled a pair of handcuffs and a fake badge out of my jacket, and for a drunk person with significantly imparied judgment, that was more than enough proof. Putting her hands up she got in the car. She had obviously seen many cop TV shows. I hadn’t asked her to put her hands up, or even showed her a gun. Although I did have one. But that was just my safety in case something went wrong. I prefer my attacks to be more personal. More intimate. She climbed into the back of my car, and almost immediately started throwing up. She was going to pay for that one.
