In The Grave

"Susana! Wait for me!" Luna called to her friend. Susana turned around, and saw Luna waving. She stopped. She waited, as Luna tied the laces of her boot. Luna was a middle aged girl. Of the age of 11. Susana was kind and sweet, and always interested in adventure. She had dirty blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. Luna however, had dull brown eyes, and a sad expression. Her father, one of the nights of the round table, had died last year in a battle with "the enemy" (Luna did not want to talk of it, so we do not know much). She missed him. She had long black hair. Longer then any beard of Merlin, and longer still, then the height of King Arthur's castle. Low, they would call her. Or gloomy. Her mother locked herself in her favorite tower the night her father died, and she hasn't been seen since (besides when the maid brought her food and ale). Luna's maid was unlike others. She was plump and had long hair. The others were bony and their hair were the shortest little stumps, in Luna's opinion.

"I can't believe that Morgana would kill so many of his troops like that." Susana said to Luna. Luna sighed. She was right. Morgana was pure evil. She was the one who had killed her father. "It is like a massacre every time she attacks our knights." Susana said, breaking Luna's train of thought. Luna gasped.

"I know what I have to do!" She suddenly said. Susana looked shocked. "What?" She asked her friend. "I must visit my father's grave, and see something!" Luna shouted. She raced ahead.

"What do you need to see?" Susana asked.

"I can't tell you! It is a secret!" Luna shouted to her friend. Susana nodded. She started to walk home, looking sad. Luna felt bad, like she always she did when someone's feelings were hurt. She had a curse that told her when people's feelings were hurt, even if they did not say so.

But Luna knew that she needed to complete her task. She reached the graveyard, quickly. Tears were starting. Luna tried to stop them, but once they started, they would not stop. She headed to the back row, and walked to the left. She settled down beside the grave of her father. Why? Why did he have to die like this? He was a very brave and gallant knight. Thought Luna. I mean in the whole grand scheme of things, Morgana is pretty cool. She is secretly dating King Arthur. Luna's father told her this before he went to fight in the battle that ended his life. Luna was not exactly sure how he got this information, but she was curious to know about it. She was dreadfully terrified and heartbroken when he was killed. Her mother was too, well, more then that. She had locked herself away. Of course, Luna forced herself to get over it and live a more normal life.

"Father?" Luna muttered. "Oh I wish you could hear me." She gulped out. Then, she stood up. "I need to get this task done." Luna told herself. She sighed, and thought really hard. Well. This is a life that many girls wished to not have. Now Luna got this life, and in her opinion, it was better then the books said. Way better! Silly authors lied about life to get you to read their books. She hated most books, besides Stories for Young Girls. Those stories told the uttermost truth. Luna loved those stories. Then, she had hidden the book in her father's war clothes, and he had not noticed, and had taken it with him. He got burned slightly, and the book caught fire, and that was the end of it. Sadly.

Luna ducked behind his grave, and spotted exactly what she was looking for. She picked up a tiny pouch, and slipped it into her pocket. She slipped away from his grave, sighing. She left the graveyard, and as she did, she spotted something. She leaned in close to a grave. It said, 'Sir Abernathy Smither, 1599-1640.' 1640? That was the year her father died. Luna kept reading. '1599-March 18, 1640.' Luna stared. That was the day her father died. She kept reading. '1599-March 18, 1640, 12:22 PM.' That was the minute her father died! Luna was horrified. This was creepy.

Luna ran from the graveyard.
