Prologue

He slipped away, pleased with his act.

It wasn’t very often he got to move his own piece on the chess board, but when he did, he always made his move count. He strutted away with a smirk on his devious face.

Eventually, when he got far enough away from where he had come, he ducked into a narrow alley, and began his transformation. You had to hand it to him-his disguise concealed his true identity impeccably well. Though, a disguise alone won’t be enough to convince others of any lies you wish to get through to them. He beamed with pride, as not many could pull off what he had.

It may sound to be of only the utmost simplicity, but when you take a closer look at the deed, it requires both strategy and practice.

It’s easy to act, but it’s difficult to lie, keep up with your fib, and have the truth in mind all at the same time. Even so, it’s much harder to complete these simultaneously, with the addition of having the skills to effortlessly manipulate effectively.

He had practically invented the word manipulate, as he was incredibly skilled at doing such to others. The thought only made his grin wider.

Oh, the perks of being something not mortal. Truth be told, he didn't know exactly what he was, so he used the term 'demon' loosely. Other people, however, used it not only to describe him, but to justify what he was. He never denied nor confirmed the fact-not even to his coworkers. The title 'demon' made him seem more intimidating, after all.

Midway through his transformation from disguise to genuine appearance, he had finally begun to develop more and more of his authentic complexion. Facial muscles on the left side of his face wove around quickly, revealing the scaly nature of his skin. He only needed to wink to manifest his definite eye-yellow with a black slit for a pupil.

Sure, the character he had cast himself as wasn't a fun one to play, but he performed fantastically. Apparently, his coworker had one hell of an act, too. So extravagant, in fact, he had his own boss fooled. He'd never admit to it, though. He had genuinely felt betrayed-after all he'd done for him! Sometimes, he thought he should've known better than to hire a child. Though, after the phenomenal performance put on, he had wished he'd never had a thought similar to the likes of that.

Well, what has happened has happened, and now things would return to normal, for the most part. Though he had no idea what his coworker was planning to do in that particular village, he was positive the details would surface themselves eventually. After all, this time, he would make sure he wouldn't get out. It'd be nice to be informed of a plan before anyone executed it. For a while, he believed the next time he'd see him, his coworker would've been killed by his glare alone.

His transformation completed, he stood still for quite some time before deciding to exit the alleyway and mount his horse. It would take days, if not a week to get back to their lair on foot. His spotted black horse slowly trotted out of town, while he loosely held onto its reigns. Staring straight ahead, he awaited the future. Who knows what kind of chaos he and his team would stir up...

Sorry this one is kinda short, but the long awaited sequel has begun!

Vampire: Great story. Clear plot line and very interesting. Characters are lovely and well made. Amazing writing skills and grammar. Only thing that was a little bit too much is the repetition but I guess it's a writing style? Anyways I love it definitely recommend it!
