Prologue
Hate.
It's a strong word.
But it's the right word.
My teacher back at the Siuslaw forest in Oregon told me that strongly dislike would be a better word to state one's feelings.
She's dead wrong. Which is funny because she was practically dead before my father saved her. Like he does with so many, if anyone is on the brink of death, he won't think twice and will just save them.
How did he save them you might ask. Well it's simple once you understand it, he bit them and a couple hours later, they're alive. You might think vampire, but you would be wrong, think more on the lines of werewolves.
Both my parents were born werewolves, so in our terms, I'm a purebred. Even if my grandparents were turned, my parents weren't so that makes me special.
I haven't seen my mom in almost fifteen years, one day she had found her Mate and left. Why she left me with my dad, I'll never know, but I have one theory. She grew to hate him too.
Why do I hate him? You might ask, well, it’s simple really. He traded me.
He traded me for a little more than pride and face in front of the pack. Oh yeah, and a way to gain a more powerful pack.
He trained me and made me into a walking weapon, sure when I was ten we agreed that when the time came I would go to the Willamette pack and take over as alpha to join the two packs.
But there was something that made me change my mind and completely hate him.
He has never told me "I love you," never, not once. All he has told me is "I'm so proud of you," and "Make me proud." What father doesn’t tell his daughter that he loves her, that's no way for a girl to grow up.
That's why I am currently the beta of the Willamette pack.
Because I chose to have a better life and not have to live under my father's thumb.
Little did I know, he wasn't done with me.
