Your Story
"I love it! How it was told, so beautifully! I love the characters in it and chapter one. The beginning was so haunting. As he stepped into the cottage and your beginning was beautifully written."
Delightfully Evocative
"A fantastic story, bringing to a modern setting a glimpse of the elaborate and intricate expanse of Irish mythological history. Coupled with this is a crisp rendition of life as a young adult in present day Ireland, which is told with an engagingly realistic tone, presenting details - insightful and unusual observations taken from the real world - in a good storytelling manner which keeps the narrative moving at a "one-more-page" pace. Overall, a worthwhile and unusual read with refreshing innovation and characters written for a modern audience."
Fantastic Read
"Fantastic read - quick and easy. Full of in depth characters and strong female roles. I enjoyed the rich description, character development and the twist on legends. A niche book, urban fantasy set in Ireland using Irish mythology. Well worth the read, I'd recommend to those interested in any kind of fantasy and also to those who enjoy realism."
You, Ma'am, deserve this strawberry
"This is a brilliantly executed story full of well thought out characters who embark on enviable adventures. The author is brilliant at showing how each individual stands apart from the rest to bring a truly delightful cast of players. I suggest giving the full book a read as well in support of Ms. EmerPenny herself. I am aware that there is a sequel in the making as well which leads me to conclude that some characters (not introduced as yet in the inkitt version) will rise triumphantly within the plot. I look forward to more work from this truly insightful and intelligent author in the future."
If Artemis Fowl were an ordinary girl
"(At the time of this review, the first 3 chapters have been released) This is an odd one to me. The story here is an urban fantasy about criminally-inclined 'fey' running around Ireland, kind of like Artemis Fowl without the Artemis. You've got your secret society of people who deal with the magical stuff, you've got a girl with a special curse, and that's got everyone in a tizzy. The narration is a little jerky at times. And it can be a bit too direct for its own good; it'll often say something like 'But [X] was about to happen', which is considerably weaker than just letting us see it happen. But there's some intriguing sparkle in the interactions between characters. Dialogue has a personal quality to it. It's very prominent in the first chapter. Characters often talk to each other in a way that feels un-staged. Like listening to a conversation between two people who've known each other for a long time--when you do that in real life, you won't always be able to follow them."
