Poems have been saving me this year, and then the pandemic happened and here we are. These are about crushes, heartbreak, learning who you are outside of other people, and being able to surface again when you've gone too deep.
You came into my life with gale-force winds.
Clearing away all else.
Sinking my heart into the deep depths of Lake Superior.
It should have been a November Gale,
but it was early,
with October's colors and force.
I'm waiting for this storm to subside,
but the lightning keeps flashing,
and the thunder keeps roaring.
(and I lost you somewhere on the shoreline.)
