It was 6 in the morning of 2010, the birds chirping and the wind swung and sways the hair of the brunette. Ayumu, a 15 year old girl, who only longed for the warmth of a mother. It occured, when she was four years old, Ayumu's mother abandoned her for the sake of her own happiness.

"I will see you in another life."

Was what her mother said to her before bidding goodbye.

With the said statement, Ayumu wondered what she meant at that time.

Ever since, she longed for another place, another world, where everything she desired was there.

Being reborn in a life she for.

Does it exist?

Ayumu walked the streets of New York, passing by people, trees, and parks.

It was cold, cold enough that steam comes out your mouth.

It was said that within the year you're supposed to turn 16, a mail will be sent to you, a letter from the other life.

It is said you had two choices, to stay, or to leave.

Another life, where everything you desired will happen, a life like paradise,

Fool's Paradise.

"Ayumu!! Lunch!"

Dad called, we ordered burgers and fries from Mcdonalds. Since it was only the both of us, cooking wasn't really our specialty.

I mean, we tried, but it really just wasn't for us.

"I'm coming!"

I yelled as I tied my shoes and went downstairs. We were supposed to go to the park to relax and chill while waiting for the "letter".

Neither of us knew what waits ahead, how things will turn out after I sign it.

Will it turn alright?

Did I choose the right decision?

Billions of questions lingered my mind.

I sat down and ate my burger. Dad infront of me as the atmosphere grew silent.

"Dad, do you think I'll meet mom there?"

"I don't know Ayumu, all I know is... It's Paradise.

Paradise you don't even know."

"Why didn't you go with her?"

...

He didn't answer, it was silent and I was eager to know why.

Was it because of me?

Because of love?

"It was my decision. Nothing more."

"oh."

I ate my burger while staring blankly at the table.

"So Ayumu, don't bother if you choose to leave, it's your choice. I will always love you."

He smiled and continued to eat.

It broke my heart, the very depths of it trying not to pour regret and doubts, my eyes forcing to sparkle and not cry.

"The letter isn't here yet, want to take a walk while waiting?"

"Sure."

We proceeded to walk by the park while reminiscing precious moments of mom.

It was fun, to remember all those memories, those fun times.

It was a long day of walking and walking, my mind a mixture of emotions you could imagine.

The unbearable stress of a decision that could change your whole life.

"To be honest, you should choose to leave. That way, you'll be happy, living a life you once desired, a life of Paradise and fantasy.

Ayumu, choose to be happy."

Dad told me as we were near our way home,

I never wanted to leave him behind.

Besides, who knows what the future holds? I won't even know I desired that life.

I could complain about it all the time and wish for an alternate reality.

We were only a feet apart from the mailbox, my hands shaking and my legs not wanting to move.

Closer and closer, my life will change within a mere check on a box.

"It's here, Ayumu. "

The paper was right in front of me, the pen only an arm away,

The envelope gave me chills, I don't want to open it.

"Open it Ayumu."

Stay.. Or leave?
