Prologue
I woke up in a dark place.
Dark and lonely sky was the only thing I could see.
Distant and silent stars were gazing upon me as I look for meaning into them.
There was no sound until i realized a mechanical drum.
A sound not caused by gears or anything like that but by a mere human heart.
Why does this sound so mechanical then? I have wondered.
And why there is no steam coming out of my mouth when I breathe.
It was cold I remember. I felt my body was trembling at first. Then it stabilized gradually.
“Ol’right then. How do you feel?”
A strong voice broke the silence.
The stars have shrunk down and turned into small indicators. The sky had transformed into a tiny room, a workshop it would seem.
“Can you hear me, girl?”
The sound of an old man clanged violently. More like a radio interference. But somehow physical.
“Yes”
Some deep voice answered. I was thinking about giving the same answer before her.
No, it was me.
But why…
A sudden pain crushed my brain or whatever have left from it.
I have begun to understand the situation I am in. Or started to remember what had happened to me. And why I have been lying down on a gurney in a pirate workshop. Especially why the Guiellon’s of all the others.
“Neat. Then try to move your fake muscles out of my chair… and begone.”
Before he left the room, he let the mirror face on my direction out of courtesy. Very unlikely of him.
Then I saw myself for the first time.
A stranger.
He did not touch the face I presume. I knew he had a thing for me when I was still a human being. That was one of the main reasons why I have ended up in his workshop.
However other than that… it was not only hard to find Selia Partos in this reflection. The thing I have been looking at was not a human at all.
A mechanical copy of it.
Maybe.
But certainly more strong and ready to take revenge.
