Summary

He was mine. I had claimed him as my own. We spent hours upon hours spending precious time together. He knew my darkest secrets, I knew his. I loved him, he was my everything and more. But he wasn't mine to keep. 16 year old Cassidy Moore is your typical "bad girl". She ditches school, and is a mysery to most of her school. Rumors about her are all she seems to hear, assumptions about her real identity and whether she is who she says she is. No one knows, until she meets Ryder. Her Ryder. Or, should I say used to be her Ryder.

Once my nightmare

Hi! I'm Cassidy. Well that's what I now go by as, after a certain chain of events I decided to legally change my name to remain hidden. You may be thinking, why would she have to hide? Well I'll tell you.

"Back off" I whispered as I clenched my fists behind my back, I couldn't do much since my hands were tied but it didn't stop me from resorting to my natural instincts, fighting. I never thought I would be in this situation. I know my job is dangerous, but I've always been careful. Now it's life and death. I had a terrible headache from all of the thoughts rushing through my mind. What if I die here? What about my mum? Who will take care of her? And lils. I love her frilly pink princess dress. She looks like a real life princess in my eyes. And my mum. She's always been here, by my side whenever I needed her. Now she's on her deathbed, she's a shell of the woman she used to be. She's loved for her liveliness and youthfulness, now she's frail and cold. She barely speaks. She barely eats. I haven't seen her beautiful smile in months.

I was brought back to reality when his palm connected to my cheek. The force of the blow was so powerful my face smacked against the concrete wall behind me causing stars to form in my vision. I heard the distant click. If I was any other "normal" person I wouldn't recognise it, but I wasn't normal. It was the click of a gun. Due to my blurred vision I couldn't see whether it was pointing at me but knowing him it probably would be. I dared not make a sound as I would be giving him the satisfaction of seeing me crack. He would get to see my weakness, and growing up I have always been told not to show that you're in pain or struggling. Weaknesses can be used against you.

"How's this for you Cora? It's not nice huh? You aren't smirking now are you?" I could sense the hatred in his voice. I can't blame him, he was once in the exact same position I'm in, and I was the one torturing him. I felt a lone tear travel down my pale cheek, but I tried to wipe it away before he saw. I couldn't look him in his eyes, I didn't want him to see how much this was hurting me inside.

"Why won't you make a fucking noise you little bitch? You know I hate when you're silent" I stayed quiet. I knew it was making him angry but I can't, I won't show him how much he's breaking me. I had to act, and fast. My senses weren't in top notch due to his several punches, slaps and kicks, but I couldn't just sit around and wait for him to kill me. I had to do something. I waited until he he was somewhat distracted to start making my move, but he knew I was going to do it. He turned to face me and fired the gun at my stomach. I could feel the blood seeping down my abdomen and down onto my thighs yet there was no pain. I was numb. My vision slowly started to fade and the last thing I saw was his face, his eyes black with anger and his sadistic smile.
