Prologue: The Chosen
In the entertainment industry there's a popular genre in literature that speak about adventures of a chosen man, boy in most cases where he is transmitted to a different magical world. In these stories, the boy is gifted with powers and abilities by the God or gods who help him transmit.
Right now Michael stood in a grass field agape at the abrupt change of scenery. In one moment he was making his way home, hopping to reach home before his little sister so that she couldn't take the last macaroni and cheese.
However, making a curb to another block he abruptly had a blackout and later found himself standing on a wide grassy field. "Is this real?" He was shelled shocked. Michael couldn't believe it and he sure didn't believe it.
{Of course is real, boy.} The cold mechanical voice made him jumped on his toes and twist left and right. Looking, searching for the voice that abruptly spoke beside his ears.
"Who is it? What's going on?" Michael got a scare. The voice was mechanical, like the voice of an artificial intelligence that had no emotion.
{Stop looking around, boy. You wouldn't be able to see me, even if I decided to appear in front of you.} The tone again had no emotion and even though Michael didn't found himself in fear of the voice he still had an eerie and ominous feeling about the entity.
{Who I am is not important right now. What I am is what you people call god. You, a Chosen has finally been born in that flouting rock. By the Universal System or by The Code, as a Chosen One you are enabled to become more than just ordinary. So, by the Rules I am obligated to transported you to this low–magical world.}
Hearing that Michael forgot all about his prior thoughts that have birthed in his heart by the entity call god. So, his first hunch was correct! He truly was transmigrated to a different world! A magical place!
Just like the stories he loved to read. Thinking about it his mind ran wild fantasies of the adventures he would soon experience.
{As a Chosen you were born with this special Aura that is enticing to us gods. Because of your uniqueness we wait until the Chosens native world is old enough to birth such beings that would call to us in these mortal planes. As such when such beings are born we transported them to worlds that would shape and nurture them into weapons for us the gods.}
Capturing what he say, Michael stop himself and though, what weapons? For what reasons? And as if the entity that call itself god read his thoughts, it answer him.
{We gods are entities who live long, long life. We don't die or in some cases can't die. In our long lifespan we grew bore on fighting each other, no matter if that was through physical combat or through idealistic religions. We fought through it all, now however we found the Chosens. Beings who are born with Wills of the Worlds. The Chosens are born with unnatural abilities and are able to fully host godly powers. As such from time immemorial we gods shape and nurture them for our own purposes.}
After hearing that, if in that moment Michael wasn't so preoccupied with the thought of being a Chosen and be deemed special by an entity that proclaimed itself as a god. He would have noticed the change in the atmosphere. The ominous winds that were telling him of the tragedy to come.
{However, there are others, beings that are supernatural just like the gods who view these Chosens as food, as delicacies of power. These beings can be from supernatural creatures who could call themselves as the peers of the gods or gods themselves that are looking for further breakthroughs in their powers. Your world is weak, that the weakest of all magical worlds could conquered in less than a year. It took 4.543 billions years to actually give birth to a Chosen. If your flouting rock wasn't in the region I supervised I wouldn't have even looked at it as nothing more than a flouting dead rock.}
It was now that Michael found something strange. The voice of the god was still emotionless, artificial like in the beginning but there was something else. Like a gleeness that could be heard by the tone of it's voice.
Michael couldn't understand why the abrupt change or why the winds felt ominous in the middle of a hot noon. There was no clouds for miles and even so the grass around him that was knee high were weaving as if they were in the middle of a tornado.
In that moment he felt something wrong. From his throat he felt liquid escaping, flooding upwards through his esophagus. Michael knees gave in and he fell to the soft grass under him. Vomiting a mouthful of black blood as he look at it with wide eyes and pale face. "What have you done to me?" He almost shouted but he found his vocal cords writhing inside, the ligament of his body squirming and shaking as if there was something within.
{I. . .? Have done nothing. The Code forbids us to touching mortals. I only did my job and transmigrated a Chosen to a magical world so that it could train and grow. This is The Absolute in the World of the Gods, it cannot be ignore or cut out. However, what would happen if a person is throw to a different world without prior preparations? Without the Baptism?}
Was it an infection?. . . No, there most have been something else, something that I can't see or feel but is always around me or in me to the point of needed a cleansing?
No. . .it couldn't be! Germs! Bacteria! When he heard the word baptism he realized. He was naive, he was indulgent with wild fantasies that he forgot such a basic thing. It was like the cold, every year millions of people around the earth get the cold because of the change in the climate. That, in theory meant that the germs that the body was accustomed for the majority part of the year would change and mutated and attack the immune system.
That could also happen if one travel to a different region where the body hasn't gone to or isn't accustomed. Everyone knows the common knowledge of getting their local vaccine depending to the region that one would be traveling. Michael parents were businesses men and they travel alot and have teach their kids the importance of taken or be aware of their bodies health.
Then what would happen if he change to a totally different world? With a different atmosphere, with different germs and bacteria flouting around? The consequences would be unimaginable!
Michael continue coughing blood and his muscles were eating themselves from the inside. He felt like every single pore was been pierce by a hot, no, by a molten metal needles. The pain that cause him was like nothing he could ever imagine. As if purgatory was birthed inside his skin.
{A being like me is here to please and fulfill the requirements of a Chosen. Boy, if you would have been at least cautious you would have ask me questions that would force me to reveal this piece of important information. I couldn't do anything to prevent it, is my job and the Rules aren't to be broken. A little caution and one question would have save you but now, now I would take what I wanted and become stronger. Thank you, human. I did admire your naivety. Thinking about all those fantastic stories and reliving them through your imagination that you completely miss the symptoms that started plaguing your body. Well, that's what happens to the weak. Bye boy, it was nice to meet you.}
At the end the emotionless voice turn from artificial to ecstasy. A voice filled with gleeness and accomplishment. Before Michael lost consciousness a foreign thing enter his body through the middle of his brows. At that moment if he still had strength left he would flail, squirmed, tussled around the grass as the pain that thing brought was similar to the pain of his decomposing body but instead of feeling it all over his muscles and nerves he felt his brain split apart. As if a mirror. . .no, just like a mirror shattering by a super heavy sledgehammer.
After that darkness overcame his senses and he felt nothing, no one, only the coldness of emptiness.
