Prologue

It’s not so bad getting hit by a car.

The instant the bumper hit his legs, the capillaries burst with torn blood cells, flooding the world under the abraded skin. The force rippled throughout his body, ripping through both muscles and vessels, frying his brain at the body’s anguish through his nerves.

Cells burst, filling every interstitial space, pressing into torn fibres of both muscle and sinew. The fat and meat did nothing to cushion the impact that shard two columns of calcium. Two columns of calcium which could withstand a force of 1800-2500 pounds.

It was bad when the bumper broke both of his legs and sent him tumbling in the air. But by the time he landed on his shoulder and then on his head, he couldn’t feel anything after.

Internal bleeding is painful. But with his spine snapped on the neck, it was pretty much to say that he was barely aware of his surroundings, much less, the blood invading the space for his brain.

Like all stories that end with a guy’s stupidity, it all started with a girl.

Natasha Evermoor: This is really intriguing and emotionally intense. I like the way Joshua can truly change, or if Fleur is slowly getting pulled into something dangerous without realizing it. By the way, I love your book cover!

I’m starting on book two and I’m confused because they talk about her being pregnant in the third chapter after they set off on their way to the new location BUT in this book she’s bleeding and not sure if she’s even pregnant? So that’s one of the things that’s confusing. It doesn...
