Chapter 1
The dance floor was packed with my friends who were twirling and swaying around to make my last bachelor night fill with humorous moments.
I laughed at “Celeb and Cole ″, mine two high school pals, who were rocking around the pole.
Mine attention stuck on the Ginger-haired beauty who swayed like the dance floor was for her. I drooled at her every move and her hot tempting figure. She was wearing a red off-shoulder cocktail dress.
She was laughing and enjoying her drink as I just stood there mesmerized by her beauty.
“Dude who’s that? ” my cousin James asked while sipping on his whisky.
“She’s Charlotte, ” Roselyn said as he took a seat beside her boyfriend.
“Charlotte, that timid one from our class, ” Jason laughed.
“Shy, well that was past guys she’s the hottest one among us with a good bank balance,” Roselyn said.
” What’s she doing other than traveling? ” Lora,″ my fiancee rolled her eyes, to which I just laughed.
“Maybe sleeping around. The virgin becomes a slut.” Julie, one of Lora’s minions, laughed which made my blood boil.
“can you please shut up? ” I softly yell,
“She is right, Romulus. Where does she get all these if she doesn’t have a proper job? We all know her family background; her dad just runs a fast food store downtown. ``Lora said, pointing at her.
“Guys we should stop backbiting and ask her straight away what she does other than traveling” James suggested.
“Why are you all being so curious about her ” I spoke out.
“leave her it’s my bachelor party… so enjoy,” I said finishing my drink.
“They are enjoying sweetheart but they are also right about her ” Lora put her hand round my waist closing the gap between us.
“Right? ” I asked, flaring up in anger.
“Do you think the same about her? ”
I asked in disgust. Think how being a woman she can think so low about other women.
Well, she didn’t have to reply as her expression said it all. I pushed her hand and left the bar.
“Don’t ” I held my hand before she could follow me.
I came out of the club and sat under the twinkling sky and watched the bright full moon. As those words played in my head.
“Does she become that low? ” I thought. Today’s incident had forced me to think that.
I lit my cigarette and blew the smoke out as my mind took a trip to the past.
“Hey Ginger, ” I messaged her.
“hi buddy ” she replied like other days.
“hey you know we will die this year,” She said as I sent her a few laughing emojis.
“don’t laugh. It’s all over the news. According to the Maya phenomenon, the earth will be destroyed ” She replied with some sad emoticons.
“so what you wanna do,” I asked her
" Okay...what you wanna confess before we all go extinct ” her reply made my heart race a little.
It pushed me to think, are we gonna die?
As I typed my confession.
“I want you in my life but I’m tied up ”
Silent… there wasn’t any message, only a smiling face popped up.
“So what do you want to confess? ” I was not satisfied by her reply and regretted my confession.
“I’m moving to the states, ” she confessed. That was the last time we had messaged each other.
The sound of stilettos brought me back to the present. I turned right to look at the figure. It was that beauty who captured my attention to her inside the club.
She smiled and walked towards me as I quickly threw my cigarette away remembering she never liked me smoking.
“so nervous for tomorrow,” she asked as I chuckled.
“No, I have taken the decision a long time ago to settle with Lora ” I laughed nervously.
She just stared at me as I looked away.
Well, she has become quite intimidating as she could see through me.
She softly giggled and opened her shoes.
“You know I always love the moon. It always gives you calmness when there is a storm inside you ” She said looking at the moon.
Her skin glowed as her diamond studs sparkled under the silver rays.
" Like an angel. ” I murmured.
“What? ” she asked, still looking at the moon.
“nothing ” I shook my head.
“came ” she called and tapped the empty place beside her. She put her legs in the pool as she played with the water forming waves.
I took a seat removing my jacket and folding my jeans.
“So what’s up? ” I asked before the silence was killing me.
“Nothing special ” she replied with a warm smile.
“Are you happy? ” she asked, looking straight into my eyes. I looked away and replied “yeah”
She murmured something before signing softly.
“I have heard you travel a lot. Shouldn’t you spend some time with m.. family? ” I corrected before speaking something nonsense.
“Thanksgiving and Christmas and sometimes I try to find time for their birthdays, ” she said in a sad tone. It was clear how much she missed them.
“so how’s your work going on ” I finally asked
“Good ” the reply was short.
“How’s your restaurant business? ” she asked.
“I don’t run a restaurant ” I replied
“Poor buddy, ” she said, looking at me with sad and guilty full eyes.
“sorry… I didn’t mean to hurt you ” she said.
“It’s okay. I work in an IT company now ” I said looking at the waves she was making.
“How are your parents? ” she said, folding her legs.
“They are good, ” I replied.
“Do you still paint? ” I asked her to remember her creative skills.
" It’s late but if you have 5 min I wanna show you something,” she said and stood up.
I checked my Tudor only to find out it was 12. As I chuckled.
“What? ” she asked, confused.
“you’re still a kid. Sleeping early at night ” I said as I got up and unfolded my jeans.
“Come on, ” she said before taking her Louboutin.
She walked towards the small villas that were booked for my wedding. We were walking side by side as I felt our skin touch. I wanted to hold her hands. Before I approached and took the first step.
“We are here, ” she announced.
We took a small turn to the right as we reached the door of the Villa.
She opened her clutch to take her card. She punched in within a few seconds as the door opened.
We went inside only to see two sofas and a small table where she put down her accessories. Her two unpacked luggage was seated on the sofa too.
" Make yourself comfortable,” she said before taking the luggage away.
“You didn’t unpack,” I asked thinking when did she reach here.
“I’ll be leaving after your wedding. So I didn’t feel like unpacking it, ” she said and vanished inside her room.
My heart clenched thinking of losing her again. My memories shift to that day at the airport where we met for the last time.
“When are you coming back? ” I asked with the pain of losing something.
" Don’t know. ” She had replied.
I got angry hearing what she said but didn’t say anything.
“take care of yourself. And always listen to your heart,” she whispered and got up as her flight announced.
I want her to stay. Stay beside me forever but I don’t want to be the barrier between her and her career.
" Be safe ginger ” I kissed her temple and bedded goodbye.
“Rome ” Her sweet voice brought me back to reality.
I looked at her away only to see her standing with a cup of coffee and a canvas. She placed the canvas by the couch handing me the coffee cup. She took a seat beside me.
" What is bothering you, Rome. You can share with me ” she put her hand on my cheeks and turned me to face her.
I wanted to scream. How much I wanted her in my life but couldn’t utter a word.
“Nothing Ginger. It’s just wedding jitters, ” I said, taking her hands and kissing them. They were so soft they felt like cotton in my hands.
She smiled as I lost in her beauty. She had changed into a purple satin slip and covered her curves with a matching kimono. Her smooth skin was tempting me to pull her towards me and capture her pink lips.
She stood up and removed the cover from the canvas. It was me standing in my tux carrying a corsage in my hand.
“it was beautiful. Did you paint it? ” I asked, not believing my ginger had become such a great artist.
“Yes Rome. ” she smiled.
“Do you like it? ” she asked, nervousness lacing her voice.
“Like, I loved it, Ginger, ” I said, becoming so excited and happy. I always wanted her to paint my picture and remember how she used to giggle and say:” I’m not that good Romulus “.
“Did you remember how you practiced your dance moves that day when you came to mine home? ” she said, looking at the canvas like she was remembering each of the moments.
" Yes, didn’t forget anything about that day. From learning, dance moves from you to how I tripped on your new gown and fell. ” I said to her, remembering one of my best days of life.
" such a bad dancer you were. I had to miss my prom because of you ” she complained with a cute pout.
As I remember how I spend my whole prom night not doing anything other than listening to my girlfriend’s blabbering.
“Don’t trip on your wife’s gown tomorrow. People will get a show to laugh at. ” she suppressed her giggles with her palms.
“then teach me again,” I said as her eyes got big and her eyebrows creased down.
I bring my hand in front of her and ask “can I have this dance ”
She laughed when she realized I quoted from ” high school musical “.
“sure ” she accepted as I escorted her to the middle of the room.
“music,” she said.
“We never needed any ” I replied pulling her close as we started to move in rhythm.
I twirl her around as her giggles filled the room. I pulled her towards me as she came in my arms. I unlocked her ginger locks as we moved slowly enjoying the only time I have with her.
“So is that my wedding gift ” I whispered as she turned towards me.
“no, you requested that I fulfilled after so many years, ” she said with a sweet smile.
“Tell me what you want as your wedding gift ” She circled her arms around my neck and whispered.
Silent spread across the room as we stood there wanting the same thing for such a long time. Our desire-filled eyes locked with each other.
“Just say it,” I silently reminded myself. I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t.
“You, ” I whispered, closing the gap between us.
I captured her soft lips as she melted in my arms. I pushed her to the nearest wall and trilled the kisses down her neck, she tilted her head for more access. I smiled thinking we both desired the same thing. I moved back to her lips as I felt her curves and valleys. I loosen her robe and pleasured her as the silence broke through by her morons.
I cried her to the bedroom where our body, soul, and desire met. Enjoy each of the moments of togetherness.
It’s 3, she was laying on top of me as I played with her hair. “Rome ” she murmured as I hummed a reply.
“Do you know Nathen Bellinger? ” she asked looking at me.
I thought for some time but can’t remember who she was talking about.
" No ” I shook my head.
“He’s one of the great artists I work with. ” She said and pinched my nose.
As I started tickling her she laughed and tried to get off my grip.
I pushed her hand above and hovered over her as I kissed her earlobe. I don’t want to think about anyone when I’m with my ginger.
She moaned as I captured her swollen lips and made love to her again.
At seven I work up to an empty bed because of the stupid bell.
I wrapped myself up and opened the door to see a housekeeper with a suit in his hand.
" Sir your suit. Get ready for your wedding ” He smiled before leaving the suit in the drawing-room.
I searched for Charlotte only to get a packed suitcase with her white handbag. She hasn’t left the house yet.
“Ginger “I called.
“Ginger are you there ” I went towards the bathroom but there was no reply.
I searched in the closet when the guest room door opened and she came out wearing a formal white skirt and pink blouse. Like she was ready for the meeting.
“Ginger “I hugged her.
“I missed you ” I whispered and tried to kiss her when she stepped away from me.
“Get ready Rome. Your wife is waiting for you ” She said
“Ginger, ” I said, not knowing what was happening.
She took out a red velvet box and took out a golden chain with an R pendant. She put it around my neck whispering ” Diamonds are precious and Gold is pure to hold them without any doubts ” she smiled and kissed my temple.
" Wish you a very happy married life buddy,” She said before moving away from me. I held her hand only to see a huge princess cut diamond ring.
“you are engaged ” I whispered as she faced me. Her eyes glittered with hurt reflecting our sorrows, accusing me of being late.
" Bye Rome ” she smiled for the last time before parting away.
