Keeper of Secrets

Spoken to in a whispered voice,

details given in hands of trust.

You present me with no other choice,

your secret is undeniably unjust.

Fear the wrath of faulted shame,

I keep your secrets no more.

Point the finger at the blame,

this ritual I now abhor.

Forgiveness is not effortless,

it is something you must earn.

Relieve my shoulder’s of this stress,

it is none of my concern.

Tell the truth or subtly lie,

weigh consequences heavy.

But I would rather painfully die,

than help construct this levee.

I’ll break the walls and tell all,

this horrific sin will be heard.

I’ll claim that I don’t recall,

this situation having occurred.

Silence passes my still lips,

who would listen to me?

I won’t let anything slip,

even though I disagree...
