Machine learning has been a hot topic in the tech world in recent years. It involves a range of technologies that aim to make computers behave somewhat like human brains, by analyzing large amounts of input data and developing complex mathematical relationships that enable them to produce something similar to the input data.
Examples of this type of creativity can be found all over the internet, including AI-generated paintings in the style of Picasso, artificial music inspired by famous composers, and photorealistic human faces that don’t actually exist. Even erotic content has been generated by machine learning algorithms.
Writing fiction presents its own set of challenges for artificial intelligence, but it can be taught to do so as well. This collection of short stories is written by AI algorithms, curated by the author, and intended for the reader. Each story was generated by providing a prompt to a machine learning algorithm, and the results may or may not make sense to the reader. Perhaps we have yet to fully understand how our machines think and what they dream of. As the reader, you get to be the judge of that.
