Prologue
She looked perfect, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen; perfect round nose, perfect lips and those exquisite golden browns that pierced right into my soul. All this perfection draped on equally flawless dark skin, it was as though God had unleashed a masterpiece on my unworthy eyes.
I found this strange as the previous week I believed her to be the blandest of girls, I saw nothing new about her, neither did I find out anything particularly interesting about her, it was I who had undergone metamorphosis. I understood then that love is all bunch of pheromones. It’s was never about the first sighting but when it did hit, I believed it to be our first meeting.
I confess I was in love instantly, nothing else in the world mattered, for the rest of the world had died in that moment.
Adoration so complete, death seemed the only escape…
No that wasn’t love…
Love builds, uplifts and elevates life’s experience as a whole but…
This thing did none of those things, I could feel it eating away every part of me, twisting every light into dark until only she remained; the perfect illuminated ebony statue…
No it wasn’t love, it was something darker masquerading as Love. If only I had realised it sooner, maybe then I wouldn’t be here, thinking such terrible thoughts…
Oh, these terrible, awful thoughts, I refuse to write them down for fear I will look at them and realise the dark within but I must. For how am I to know if her death would bring me solace…
