I yipped happily, nipping one of Hēi diāo’s ears.
Hēi diāo
laughed, jumping back. His fur was black, occasionally glittering, and his dragon wings matched, black as well.
We have the same amber eyes, but my fur is crystal white, and my wings are feathered.
Of course, Mom and Dad are much bigger than us, as we are just pups.
Hēi diāo tackled me, and I fell back, splaying my feathered wings out wide. “Ahhh! You got meeeee!” I said, laughing.
“Rah!” Hēi diāo said, collapsing in a fit of laughter.
Thunder rumbled, and the ground started shaking, booms erupted and I could hear snarls and magic chants.
Suddenly, Mom bursted in through the doors, Her green and gold coat was charred, her usually leafy crown was burned.
Dad ran in next, his orange and red fur was starting to flame at the tips.
“Father! Mother!” Hēi diāo gasped, running to them with me right behind him.
"Hēi diāo! Shuǐjīng! The spirit world is under attack. We fear that it will not survive here. Me and your father have decided that you will both be going to the mortal world.” Mom said, grabbing my scruff.
Dad grabbed Hēi diāo’s scruff, and our parents took off running outside.
Outside, the ground was smoking, light was flashing, coming from the hands of black-cloaked figures.
They sprinted through the forest, leaping over fallen trees that had been poisioned by what looked like green magic.
It didn’t look like Mother’s magic, hers was bright green and warm, this was dark green and sickly looking.
They set us in front of a rock, the Giving Stone.
Our parents stepped forward, touching their noses to the rock. “We are Chaos and Nature, we wish for a passage way into the moral world for our children, the Yin and Yang.”
The Giving Stone glowed a blue color, then a mix of all rainbow colors, and some new colors that the human mind cannot even register.
Mother stepped back, licking mine and my brother’s heads. “Be careful my children.”
“What? Mother! Father! We can’t go into the mortal world!” Hēi diāo exclaimed, his black ears twitching angrily.
Mother’s ears and tail-tip glowed as she used her magic to create a flower crown of blue and turquise flowers.
She placed it on my head, then nudged me and Hēi diāo into the portal.
~* Present Time {Thalia’s P.O.V} *~
“Thalia, the Shaman has requested your presence in his tent.”
The shaman’s apprentice said, then walked out of my tent. I stood up, then followed after him.
The shaman had been sick for weeks, it was a wonder he had made it this far, but why would he call for me? A lowly girl who’d rather take a bow and arrow to a hunt instead of a skinner rack.
I walked into the tent, and was startled to see the Shaman sitting up and waiting for me.
“Shaman-” I started, but he waved me off.
“Hush child. I have recieved a prophecy for you.”
A prophecy? No way. For me? “Wh- What?”
He smiled, his faded grey hair was shining from the fire light of his tent.
“The Spirits Fall. Two, the legends of black and white, the wings of light and dark, they meet their match in the mortal world, as the Crusher makes his mark.”
I shuddered, two spirits coming to the mortal world? The Crusher? But what did this have to do with me?
As if reading my mind, The shaman spoke. “I called you, because I can see it around you, the pure ora of the light, Yang, I believe will be your partner.”
My eyes widened. Me?
What.
How.
Why?
“Yang will come.” The shaman said.
~* Jackson’s P.O.V *~
The nights here in Henx are terrible.
Seriously, I am freezing.
Even with like, three polar bear hides as blankets, I am still shivering.
Suddenly, my dad walks into the tent, his brown hair and darker brown eyes where a mixture of happy and worried.
“Son, the shaman has had a prophecy for you.”
I got up, following my dad out of the tent.
“A prophecy for me?” I mean, I know I’m the chief’s son and all, but this was crazy.
Dad nodded, and led me into the Shaman’s tent.
Our shaman, a black-haired man in his 20′s, was standing there.
“Jackson, your prophecy is: “The Spirits Fall. Two, the legends of black and white, the wings of light and dark, they meet their match in the mortal world, as the Crusher makes his mark.”
I gasped, two spirits were coming to the mortal world? The legends of light and dark?
“Soo-?” I said, waiting for the Shaman to explain why I’m here.
“You are the dark match.”
I nodded. “Okkk. So I guess we just wait?”
As if on cue, thunder boomed, and we ran out of the tent, the sky had a huge swirling rainbow of colors, and in a flash of black and white lightning, two shapes were falling through the sky.
One was white, and the other was black, they glowed like the sun.
“That would be them.” I guessed.
The Shaman nodded, and I suddenly felt a pull, as the black shape crashed into the trees, the white shape, however, went towards the mountains, and disappeared beyond it.
I took off running, following the pull of the black spirit.
The trees flashed by until I saw it, a wolf, a direwolf, with black fur. It looked to be a sub-adult, and I kneeled down beside it- not not it, him - and started stroking his thick fur.
Sable.
Its almost like the name was whispered through the trees, but I said it aloud. “Sable.”
The black direwolves’ eyes popped open, revealing them to be a amber color.
He looked right at me, and it seemed like he sighed, black wings suddenly flickered into view, I was startled, I mean, who wouldn’t be?
But this was a spirit, and the one that I was destined to partner with, so I continued to stay beside Sable, the cold didn’t bother me now, I was actually content for once.
~* Thalia’s P.O.V *~
Thunder boomed, and I ran outside of the shaman’s tent, looking up at the sky.
It swirled a rainbow of colors, black and white lightning flashing. It was beautiful, in a scary way. Then, two shapes fell from the sky, one was black and the other was white.
I looked to the shaman, who had emerged from his tent. He nodded back, and I knew when I felt a pull to the white shape, the black shape vanished over the mountains, but the white shape was like a blinding comet, and crashed into the savanna nearby.
Without thinking, I ran, the hot sun barely seemed to bother me, I was just focused on finding the white shape.
I skidded to a stop, the white comet had crashed into a watering hole.
There were animals everywhere, but I focused on a flash of white fur, and ran towards it.
Then, I spotted her. She was beautiful, with pristine white fur and feathered wings like a bird.
The animals seemed to sense her power, and kept their respectful distance.
Something almost whispered in my ear, Crystal.
“Crystal? What? Oh.” I said as the white direwolves’ eyes opened, they were bright amber, and seemed to soften when she saw me.
“Uh, hello. I’m Thalia, I think you are Crystal.”
She stood up, shaking the sand out of her fur and wings. She was easily three times the size of any normal wolf, but seemed to still be a sub-adult.
Crystal padded towards me, then spread her wings and bowed. Like actually bowed.
A spirit bowing to me? Unbelievable.
I shook my head. “Unbelievable, a spirit just bowed to me.” Crystal’s shoulders where at the same height as my hips, so she butted me with her head.
I laughed, then hesitantly touched her silky fur.
“Unbelievable.”
