Kevin’s POV
Kevin is the alpha of the Knightingale Moon pack. It was filled with men and women trained to fight long battles in harsh climates. Other packs who were unfortunate enough to fight against them but survived felt as though they were fighting a well trained fleet of special ops soldiers. Soldiers who were strategic, efficient, quick, and quiet about their killings. The only way another pack survived them was by surrender. Those who fought to defeat, would lose their land and would be forced to become rogues, go to prison, or join the Knightingale Moon pack. If they chose to join, they’d have to prove their trust first.
Kevin found himself getting ready for a fight with members from a nearby pack who tried to ambush him and his Beta on their way back to the pack house from work. He just became alpha a week ago and the surrounding packs found the change in command as an opportunity to defeat the Knightingale Moon pack. They all assumed Kevin was the prodigal son of the previous Alpha and Luna. As soon as he was of age and graduated from college, he pursued a human life outside of the pack to experience all life had to offer before he became bogged down with Alpha duties. But what the surrounding packs didn’t know is that he continued to prepare for his Alpha duties while he was away. He was just as well trained as the rest of his pack members. His Beta and bestfriend, Adrian, who traveled the world with him was a formidable apponent as well.
In the midst of the fight, Kevin mind linked his bestfriend, Adrian did you really have to stop the car to take a picture of every animal you saw in the woods? We really wouldn’t be in this predicament if you weren’t so obsessed with nature and photography. Adrian smirked right before he ripped off a part of his opponents neck then mind linked Kevin, but then we would of missed out on this fun! Better we meet the fun here than at the pack house where no one else from our pack could get hurt.
Kevin internally shook his head, It’s starting to sound like you knew we were being followed. You could of just told me. Anyway, let’s make this quick so we can get home and eat. I’m starving.
As you wish Alpha!
They successfully defeated four werewolves without an issue and were down to the last one. Two on one...they just knew it would be a quick and easy finish. But to their surprise the wolf was faster than the others. It ran off into the woods in the opposite direction of the pack house back towards the city.
Kevin and Adrian decided to chase it down so it wouldn’t present a problem in the future. Now that the werewolf knew that the new Alpha and Beta were well trained, he’ll go back and spread the word. This was the least of Kevin’s & Adrian’s problem. They wanted to know which pack was trying such a desperate attempt to defeat the Knightingale Moon pack. They chased the wolf into the city but in the midst of the chase Kevin caught a whiff of something that smelled so good. So enticing. He knew he was hungry but not this hungry where he longed to immerse his full self into this sweet savory intoxication. Adrian mind linked Kevin, dude! I think you’re wolf senses your mate nearby. I’m closing in on this guy. You go find you’re mate. You’re of no help to me now until you do.
My mate? Kevin’s ears perked in his wolf form. He completely forgot he was a wolf sneaking through the city that it took a woman screaming at the appearance of his wolf for him to rush out of sight while following the smell. He quickly, found a deserted alley to change back into human form and thanked The Lord God he had his backpack on his back during the chase. Otherwise he’d be tempted to steal clothes from someone nearby to get to the owner of this wonderful scent he’s never smelt before. He pulled his work attire pants suit out from his bag and put it on. He didn’t have his suit jacket. He left that in the car before him and Adrian were ambushed. He wouldn’t of even had time to put his clothes in his bag if it wasn’t for Adrian holding off all four of the wolves that ambushed them in the first place. He knew Adrian could handle them and figured they both didn’t want to waste a perfectly good pants suite for what he assumed would be a quick and easy fight.
Kevin put on his clothes and began in pursuit of the intoxicating smell again.
By the strength of the smell he could of sworn he was close by the first time he caught a whiff of it but it took him 20 minutes to finally find her. She was sitting at a desk in a huge office. He could tell she was the boss of the company building he just walked into. The building was 5 stories high and her office was in the back corner of the 5th floor. All he could see was her. He didn’t notice the eyes ogling at him from the moment he stepped into her work building. If it were any other person he’d be getting stopped by security but to everyone in her office he was THE Kevin Knightingale. Founder of the High Tech Virtual Black Wall Street market. He was the reason why half the people in her building had a job. His business resulted in more advertisement, customers, and investors for Black owned businesses thus creating more lucrative jobs with nontoxic environments for Black employees. He created the Black Wall Street that couldn’t be physically threatened or burned down.
This is what he forgot they saw. This is what he forgot Karya would see when she finally looked up from her desk.
Karya’s POV
What in the world is happening right now? What is everyone staring at...
Karya was still following the glances of her co-workers before she noticed The Kevin Knightingale about to enter her personal office space.
Kevin’s POV
Before she could gather herself, Kevin reached her desk, stuck out his hand for her to shake, and said, “Hi! Kevin Knightingale, I’d like to get to...” he had no idea how to finish the sentence. So he looked around to feel for what would make the most sense for him to say without freaking out the beautiful woman in front of him. The moment he saw her he was in a trance overwhelmed by her beauty and regal mannerisms in the seconds he saw her concentrating on her work. From her black curls mixed with a hint of mahogany or dark berry red flowing through it when the light hits it just right. Her lips were plump and natural. Her bottom lip was almost pinkish while her top lip was closer to her skin tone. When he saw her eyes, that’s what stopped him in his tracks. Her eyes were shaped like a Yoruban Woman descended from the royal line of cleopatra...if that even exists. Her eyes were his anchor. He had to look away to think to finish his sentence. “...um I’d like to...work with you. I’ve heard great reviews about your work and could use your expertise on this project I’m starting soon.” He knew darn well he’d have to look up her company asap and create a new project that would demand all of her time. He’d pay her well too. So no other company could take her away from him. Mate! She’s mine. All mine. Kevin’s wolf wanted to pounce her but Kevin knew she was...well not human by the looks of it but not a werewolf either.
