Prologue

Fourteen years after WWⅦ, we have adapted fairly well to the gray clouds polluting the sky. We haven’t had any wars since 2110, when the treaty was signed. Since then most countries stopped communicating other than trading goods. Due to the lack of fighting we have had time to advance our technology. To prevent more fighting, the government decided to sort everyone into houses based on our strengths. They teamed up with scientist’s from all over the country to invent what is now called S.T. E. A.W, Solution To End All Wars. The name is a bit prestigious but hey it works.

There are five houses, Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Jokers. Clubs have some of the hardest jobs, construction workers, janitors, maids pretty much anything that involves a low paycheck and lots of work. Many form gangs or drug operations but they get shut down pretty quickly. They have lots of stanamia, motivation, street smarts and great insurance. Hearts usually have lower paychecks too but the jobs are a bit easier. Bakers, teachers, fast food workers things like that. They’re good with people, they’re kind and super book smart. Spades are usually business owners but many are realtors or managers, they’re paychecks vary on the business but they all live comfortably. They are great with numbers but not so much with people.

Diamonds are pretty rare, they have it pretty easy though. The whole house is made up of movie stars, designers, successful writers, producers. Anything that will keep their fingernails clean and give them a fat check. They have to be talented, dedicated, and creative. Jokers are the most rare, they’re so rare that no one really knows what their jobs are. Most people think they are government workers or something like that, but no one has any proof, and no one knows what their characteristics are like.

When a person turns seventeen they are sorted into their respected house. They will have a year of training and then they will be given a job. Then they will have a trial year doing that job, if they do the job poorly they get a worse one. If they prove to be more efficient then what the job requires then they will be promoted to a better job. Many have fallen down the line of houses after proving their skills or lack thereof. But only a few have risen out of their original house.
