Deviating

The people who claim to know you

don’t know you as well as they think.

It almost just feels like they don’t want to know you.

They paint a picture of you in their head.

They don’t want to see any other version of it.

The one in their head is the truth and only the truth.

Anything that deviates from it is a lie.

When you do something that doesn’t match that picture,

you’re not yourself

and it’s your fault that you’re not yourself.

Except.

That whole time,

it was a false picture they made up in their head.

You were you the whole time.
