Chapter 1

"This ain't a song for the brokenhearted... a silent prayer for fate departed," I sang out loudly, and horribly I might add, on the way home from school. It's the start of summer break. 3 whole months of doing nothing but rocking out to my bomb playlists and going out with my friends.

Maybe mom will be home when I get there. She told me she would try, but she didn't know if she would be able to get away from work. Mom's a workaholic, I don't know if it's because she likes to work, or if she doesn't want me to grow up in poverty like she did, probably both.

Another 5 minutes of serenading the town with my wonderful singing went by before I got home. The front door was open so maybe that was mom's way of telling me she was home. I head inside to greet mom. The kitchen lights were on but she wasn't in there.

"Mom... Mom, I'm home where are you?" I yelled jogging up the stairs to her room. The door was closed so I knocked. "Mom, it's Jen, can I come in?" I waited for a second to get an answer but I wasn't given one, so I opened the door and found her laying on the bed beaten and bloody. "MOM?! Mom, what happened?" I tried to wake her up. I shook her, I yelled at her but it was no use. My mom was gone. She was holding an envelope in her hand. I read the letter with tear-filled eyes.

"My sweet Jenny, I always knew the day would come where I would have to leave you. I just never thought it would be like this. All your life I have tried to shelter from this it's why your father left. We never wanted you involved with this lifestyle. I can't explain everything in this letter, but your father can. Find him. Show him this letter, and stay with him. His name is Dean Winchester, he has a younger brother, Sam. They will protect you. I'm so sorry I had to leave you my baby, but we will see each other again one day.

Love forever and always,

Mom"

In the envelope, there was a picture of two young men. One shorter than the other with short brown spiked up hair, and green eyes. The taller one with shaggy brown hair and hazel eyes. I assumed one of them was my father and one of them was my uncle. My mom also put some money in the envelope.

I know she wants me to find him but there are too many questions I need to be answered. And what happens if I do find him? Will he even want me? If he doesn't he will probably just send me to a girl's home or something.

But I guess if I don't find him CPS will be after me once they find my mom's body and I'm gone. And mom asking me to find him was basically her dying wish, it couldn't hurt to look for him anyway.

I figured I probably shouldn't call the police in order to give myself a head start to get out of the state. It won't take long for anybody to find mom once they realize she hasn't been to work in a few days. So I packed the majority of my clothes and all my shoes, some toiletries, my mom's gun, my laptop, my favorite books, and grabbed my purse to put all the envelope and the money in there, along with my money all of my moms debit and credit cards and my learners permit.

I got my learners almost half a year ago, and I'm not a horrible driver so I guess I'm just gonna drive the next town over for tonight and start looking for my dad.

I don't think anyone is really going to have any reason to pull me over. I sure as hell look older than the average 15-year-old. So I grabbed my bags and dug out the jeep keys. The only thing about my plan that is worrying me, is me possibly getting pulled over for being too young to be driving alone. So I went back up to my mother's room and grabbed her purse. If I needed to I could use her actual license if I got pulled over. We look enough alike that I could probably get away with whatever I got pulled over for. I didn't want to be in there any longer than I had to be, but I couldn't help looking over my shoulder at my mom before I walked out her door and out of my childhood home for the last time.

Ulrike Ulbrich: Ich finde die Geschichte fesselnd, gut geschrieben. Die Handlung ist klar und auch die Dramatischen Handlung sind nicht übertrieben in die Länge gezogen.
