Chapter 1 - Where are we?

“Kai, Kai are you there?” a soothing voice sounded through Kai’s throbbing head. “I’m fine Aurora, don’t worry.” His vision slowly went from blurred to clear, he looked around gasping at the beauty of the place he and Aurora were in. “Wow, where are we?” Multicoloured trees spread in vast forest across patches of land, rivers of water splitting into channels of blue. The cliff they were standing upon rising high above the rest of the land created a heavenly touch to the world painted before them. “Kai, are you seeing this, is this a dream?” Aurora asked pinching Kai in the arm. “Ouch, why’d you do that that hurt!” Kai fell backwards onto the soft leaves covering the ground. An edge of a rock embed into the ground under the leaves. Kai swiped at the leaves clearing the space where the rock stood. Carved deeply into the stone was a piece of writing

Welcome travelers, to the world of Myst, Myst is an alternate reality created by scientists as a backup plan in case of the fall of Earth to the mutant humans. Here you will experience everything the same apart from the fact that there is no technology and magic, abilities and spells can be achieved through hard work. This is a world testing your abilities in survival and your eager to learn. To earn money and food, you can fight mutant animals to gain their flesh and also their soul gems (A rare drop). You can sell these in the in-game market. The soul gems will not only increase your strength and soul level if used but can also be made into armor or weapons of all sorts. This world is not like anything you have ever experienced, from the top it looks peaceful and safe. But in the places where you cannot see, danger lurks. Good luck travelers, stay safe and remember, only the strongest may survive...

“Does that mean that Earth has been... no... that couldn’t have happened, what about mum and dad?” With cold sweat dripping down her face, Aurora felt shivers roll down her spine. “Don’t think about it, it will only make matters worse. Our main focus right now should be to find shelter and to hunt food from some low level mutants. Our soul levels are extremely low right now so we should only be able to kill low level ones but if we train and learn new skills, we might have a greater chance at surviving this deadly dimensional reality.” Kai took Aurora’s hand and gently pulled her towards the slope leading down the cliff into a forest.

After a while walking, they saw a town looming before them. They slowly crept through the gates into the streets. Horses, donkeys and all types of mounts with humans sitting upon them rode around instead of the usual hovercar or the old fashion fuel powered car. Buildings stood around the streets while shops and merchant stalls were deeper into the town. “Let’s go check out what the shops are selling.

All types of items sat within the many stalls, broadswords, dagger, gems and jewels which Kai guessed would be soul gems also many types of armour and meaty flesh were placed on display all having a price tag on them. On each price tag it showed the price of the item with a swirling line going through a ball behind, this currency was called Drix coins. These coins could be obtained from trading mob drops and completing quests given by other people. “Wow this world sure is interesting, why don’t we find somewhere to set up camp for the day because we don’t have any money at the moment.” Aurora suggested starring at Kai’s gaping mouth. “Right, let’s go!” Kai snapped back into reality running towards the way they came crashing into a few poor residents along the way. Aurora rolled her eyes, “Brothers these days, can’t they be a bit more careful or a bit less rushed. Sighing she ran to catch up with her brother. This was going to be a long day...
